CANFIELD CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN

CANFIELD OH-Canfield girls soccer bounced back from a tough loss to Howland on Wednesday and improved to 12-2-1 with a 5-0 win over Marlington. They finished 7-1-0 in the AAC and become Co-Champs

Canfield’s goals tonight were scored by Hanna Wahib, Addy Masters, and Maci Toporcer with 2. Hanna Wahib also had 2 assists. Lolo Padget had zero shots against her.

Canfield returns to action on Saturday at 2:00 PM for a first round tournament game vs Ravenna.

BEAVERS SECURE BUCKEYE 8 TITLE

EAST LIVERPOOL OH- The Beaver Local Girls Soccer team defeated Harrison Central 4-1 Wednesday night.  The win secured the Buckeye 8 Championship.  This is the 6th league championship for girls soccer and the first since 2019.  The girls got off to a quick start when Taylor Fitzsimmons scored to take a 1-0 lead.  Not long after Karlee Cannon, Michelle Stoneburner, and Jordan Palmer all beat the Huskies Keeper to take a commanding 4-0 lead and the rest was history.  Caiden Lamp held down the Beaver net with 5 saves, while Tori Druschel contributed 2 saves of her own.

With the win the Beavers wrapped up regular season play with a 9-5-1 record.  Next up is the opening round of the OHSAA Tournament as the East Liverpool Potters come to Fighting Beavers Stadium next Wednesday at 6:30pm.

EIGHT WARRIOR SENIORS HONORED WITH VICTORY

BELOIT OH-

The girls soccer team entered Wednesday night with two things on their mind.  Number one was to celebrate its eight seniors for fine careers and number two to clinch their 9th consecutive EBC Championship.  The girls accomplished both tonight, honoring their seniors before the game and leaving no doubt as to the outcome of the game by scoring four first half goals en route to a 7-0 victory over visiting Carrollton.

The Warriors finish the season with a 12-0-3 mark and a 4-0-1 record in the EBC tying them with Salem for first place in the league.

Daphne Snyder and Bri Thomas led the way for West Branch each scoring two goals tonight.  Chloe Dennison, Sam Koneval, and Sophia Gregory also netted goals for the green and white.

Dennison added two more points on assists while Gregory and Makenna Lins each tacked on an assist.

Zoe Sanders recorded the shutout in goal.

The Warriors, who are the #1 seed in the upcoming OHSAA tournament, will await the winner of Struthers-Girard to see who they play next.  Struthers and Girard will play Saturday at 11:00 AM in Struthers with the winner moving on to face the Warriors at West Branch High School on Wednesday October 19th at 6 PM.

LEOPARDS CONTINUE IMPRESSIVE SEASON

DOVER OH- Louisville has quietly put together a strong season on the boys soccer field. They came in to Tuesday night already with 10 wins on the season. They added to that total with a quality 3-1 win at Dover.

Scoring goals for Louisville were Ethan Diller and Brady Adams. The third goal was an own goal by Dover. Ryan Kibler and Cooper Gilbert both contributed assists for the Leopards.

Louisville is now 11-4 on the season and will close out their regular season Thursday at home against New Philadelphia.

TIGERS TROUNCE BROOKFIELD

BROOKFIELD OH- Springfield didn’t miss a beat on their road trip to Brookfield on Monday night as the Tigers came in and walked all over the Warriors to a score of 8-1.

Maddie Page had a huge night as the freshman turned in a hat trick to lead the charge.  She also added an assist.  Brionna Holt added 2 goals to the Tigers offense. Riley Blakeman, and Kendal Maughan each added goals as well. Huge shout out to Graciella Ebert scored her first career goal as a Tiger.  Peyton Kliem passed her way to 2 assists, and Sami Shafer also added an assist. Caitlin Cappelli earned 2 saves for the Tigers.  Katie Gibson scored the lone goal for Brookfield.

Springfield closes out the season on Wednesday as they host Garfield for their league finale.

 

WARRIORS FORCE ANOTHER TIE

CHAGRIN FALLS OH-  West Branch forced another tie in their tough schedule on Monday night as they drew even with Chagrin Falls late in the season prepping for tournament time.  The score ended knotted at 1-1.

The Warriors goal was netted by Daphnis Snyder who was assisted by Chloe Dennison.  Zoe Sanders kept her team in the game with a lock down performance in the goal. She finished with 8 saves on the night.

Warriors close out the season on Wednesday as they host Carrollton. A win will clinch a share of the EBC title. It will also be the Warriors senior night.  That senior night ceremony will begin before the 6:00 kickoff.

WATERLOO CLINCHES PROGRAM’S FIRST MVAC CROWN

ATWATER OH- On Monday evening, the Vikings traveled to Crestview and returned home with a 6-2 victory clinching the outright MVAC title, the first in school history.

Scoring for the Vikings was the frontline of RKO, Rose Couts (2), Kaira English (3), and Olivia Boyle (1). Assisting the goals were Rose Couts (1), Kaira English (2), Sydney Jackson (2), and Celly Camacho (1). The Viking defense led by Lillie Snyder, Lilly Foster, Kayla Turcsak, and Gabby Gonzalez kept the Rebel attack at bay. The Viking goal-keeping duo of Grace Yarian and Sophia Wood combined for 7 saves on the night.

The Vikings travel to Liberty on Wednesday night to close out the regular season and then begin OHSAA tournament play on October 19 at home. Please come out and support the team as they chase an unbeaten regular season.

POLAND GLIDES BY STRUTHERS IN BIG FASHION

STRUTHERS, OH- The Poland Bulldogs and the Struthers Wildcats competed in NE8 play at Struthers High School. The Bulldogs put on a scoring clinic with four different Bulldogs scoring goals in the 7-0 victory. Three different Bulldogs had multiple goals scored as senior captain Ariana Daniels netted two goals, freshman Eliana Thompson had two goals, and junior Ariel Grischow had two goals in both halves. The other goal was scored by sophomore Samantha Masucci with 25 minutes left in the match.

Poland improved to 12-3, and is still unbeaten in NE8 play at 12-0. The Wildcats drop to 5-9-1, and will host Hubbard on Wednesday to honor the lone senior N’Dia McKelley. Poland competes tomorrow at home versus Niles at 7 P.M.

SALEM SNEAKS BY THE SPARTANS

BOARDMAN OH-

Salem Girls Soccer traveled to Boardman High School for a non-conference match-up vs the Spartans.  With a goal in each half, the Lady Quakers won their 12th match of the season by a final score of 2-1.  Scoring on the day for Salem were Rylee Hutton and Lauryn Barton.  Mikaylynn Murphy provided the assist for Barton’s early 2nd half goal.  The defense, lead by Kami Rohm & Ilani Jones-Wallace, was steady throughout the match in front of keeper Kaylee Carlisle, who had 5 saves in goal.  Salem improves to 12-2-1 on the season (4-0-1 EBC).

The Salem JV team played an outstanding match and came away 4-0 winners.  Goals were scored by Karlie Sampson, Annika Murray, Gabby Ripley and Delaney Callahan.  Assists were provided by Riley Flickinger, Mackenzie Zumbar, Murray and Ripley.  The defense played great in front of Maddy Andres who had 2 saves in goal and her 3rd shutout of the season.  The young Quakers improve to 8-3 on the season.

The Lady Quakers next travel to Chagrin Falls on Wednesday October 12th in their final regular season match against the Tigers.  JV starts @ 5:00 pm with varsity to follow at 7:00 pm.

CANFIELD TIES IN STATE RANKED SHOWDOWN

#16 in D2 in the State Canfield Girls Soccer team traveled to #11 Kenston on Saturday and battled the powerhouse for a 1-1 tie. Canfield moves to 11-1-1 (7-0-0).

Canfield was able to get goals scored by Hanna Wahib and it was assisted by Lena Wahib. Canfield goalie Lolo Padgett had 7 big saves to keep the Cardinals even with Kenston.

Like the boys team, the Canfield girls will go for yet another AAC championship on Monday as they go to Howland. Kickoff is set for 7:00.
