COUGARS OUTCLAW BOBCATS

BEAVER, PA-\ The Beaver Bobcats fell to Blackhawk 5-3 on Monday in a game that kicked off with early action.

Blackhawk wasted no time, jumping ahead in the first inning thanks to a key single by Stephen Kanally that knocked in a run. They kept the momentum going with Cody Woodward’s RBI single in the second, slowly building their lead.

Dylan Smith was on the mound for Blackhawk and had a solid outing, holding Beaver to three runs on four hits through almost seven innings while picking up six Ks. On the flip side, Ty Butler shouldered the loss for Beaver, allowing five runs over five and a third innings, with four of those runs earned.

Derek Hughes stepped up from the seventh slot, driving in two runs to lead Beaver, while Butler also showed skills with the bat, going 2-for-3. The Bobcats managed to turn a double play in the mix, showing some slick fielding despite the tough loss.

For Blackhawk, Grant Landsberry matched Hughes with two RBIs from his own seventh spot in the lineup, also snagging a hit in two at-bats.

Both teams are set for a quick rematch as Beaver hosts Blackhawk on Tuesday. The Bobcats will be looking to flip the script and even the score in this tight matchup.
