DOGS FINISH STRONG IN SEASON OPENER

POLAND OH- On Monday night it was finally time to start the season in Poland. The Lady Bulldogs are coming off yet another NE8 championship, and are hungry for even more success. They welcomed in a Fitch team that was coming off a 91 point performance in their last game, and they carried with them Zayda Creque who scored 44 points in that win.  Fitch started the game as you’d expect a team with that kind of momentum to start. Jocelyn Jourdan didn’t take long to bury a three, and then she showed off her ability to drive to the hoop as she scored the first 5 points of the game. The Falcons led after the first quarter 15-6.  Then after leading most of the second quarter, Mary Brant sparked a turnaround on Poland’s side.  The Bulldogs managed to cut their halftime deficit down to 2, and then took control of the game in the second half.  They’d go on to finish the job with some late free throws 60-52.

Brant led the way for the Bulldogs scoring 20 points. Sarah Forsyth was also in double figures for the offense with 17 points.  Katie McDonald had a nice day in the paint putting in 7 points. Ava Nicholudis also managed to score 7.

Fitch was led by Jourdan who scored 13 points after putting in the first 5 of the game.  Creque was right behind her scoring 12 points.  Destanie McCullough chipped in 8 points for the Falcons offense.
