FITCH FLEXES AGAINST IRISH

STRUTHERS, OH- On Monday, Austintown-Fitch Falcons clinched a tight 3-1 victory over Ursuline Irish, thanks to some solid pitching. John Darnley was on the mound starting for the Falcons and snagged a cool 18 outs.

The Falcons kicked off the scoring in the second inning, sparked by a clutch single from Jake Wallace that brought a runner home. Darnley wrapped up the win, letting just one hit and one run slip through in six innings, striking out five and giving up three walks.  Carter Owens came in in the final frame to slam the door shut and earn the save.  Joe Balog shouldered the loss for Ursuline after allowing three runs across six innings, matching Darnley’s five Ks and three walks.

Carson Fuller and Frank Senediak swung hot bats, each bagging two hits for the Falcons. Wallace, Senediak, and Trevor Porter each punched in an RBI, helping to cement the lead.

The Falcons showed off their defensive chops too, turning a critical double play that kept Ursuline at bay. For Ursuline, CJ Frasco and Anthony Triveri each snagged a hit, with Thomas Pesa driving in their lone run.

The Falcons are set to face the Irish again tomorrow, closing out the series as both teams gear up for the OHSAA tournament on deck.
