It was “Groundhog Day” for the Fitch softball team as they pounded Warren Harding 18-0 on Tuesday afternoon on the Lady Raiders’ homefield after putting up an identical score when they hosted Harding the night before. Moving to 14-0 on the season.

Fitch is continuing to see huge performances by its underclassmen. Sophomore Tina Montgomery led the offense with a home run, a double, and four RBIs while freshman Kylie Folkwein added a homer of her own to go along with a single and two RBIs on the day.

Juniors Samantha Heinz and Ayla Ray contributed to the second straight day of offensive onslaughts and senior Caitlin Michell made her presence known as well. Heinz contributed with a double, a sacrifice fly, and two RBIs while Ayla Ray had a double, two singles and one RBI. Mitchell was credited with a double, a single, and two runs batted in.

Sydnie Watts got her 14th win of the season for Fitch, striking out eight batters in three innings on the mound while giving up just one hit. Sophomore Julia Wileman pitched one inning and tallied one strikeout before freshman Jeweliana Farmer closed out the game in the fifth inning and struck out one batter.

The undefeated Lady Falcons will host Champion on Friday as they honor the team’s graduating players on Senior Night. First pitch is set for 6:00pm.
