GARFIELD COMES OUT ON TOP IN BATTLE OF MVAC LEADERS
NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- On Saturday a big matchup went down in Springfield. The leaders of the two sides of the MVAC came together for a bout with bragging rights on the line. Springfield could not have had a better start. They jumped out to a 28-17 lead in the first half. Garfield couldn’t get anything going on offense. That all changed in the second half when the G-Men outscored Springfield 27-8 in the second half to win 44-36.
Laura McCoy fresh off her 1,000 point milestone scored 15 points to lead the way. Mandy Cardinal was able to chip in 9 points for Garfield. Madeline Shirkey and Nora Trent were both able to contribute 6 points to help out the offense.
Jameka Brungard led the Tigers with a big 15 points. Jacey Mullen was just off of double figures putting in 9 points. Madi Lesnak got into the stat book adding 7 points to the Tigers cause.
Both teams return to their own side of the MVAC on Thursday as Springfield hosts Sebring, and Garfield hosts Campbell.
