HUBBARD TAKES ONE AGAINST CONFERENCE LEADERS

CORTLAND, OHIO- The Hubbard Eagles snagged a late lead and defeated the Lakeview Bulldogs 6-5 on Friday. The game was tied at three with the Eagles batting in the top of the fifth when Alex Yoder singled on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs.

After being down 3-2, the Eagles evened things up at three in the top of the fourth inning when Ryan Murray grounded out, scoring one run. After the Eagles scored one run in the top of the second, the Bulldogs answered with one of their own.

The Eagles then scored again when Ryan Murray singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The Bulldogs then answered right back when Matthew DeProfio singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Tyler Wright earned the victory on the mound for the Eagles as the righthander allowed eight hits and five runs over six innings, striking out four and walking one.  Braydon Songer threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Alex Stowe was on the mound for the Bulldogs as he lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out one. Tyler Capan threw two and a third innings out of the bullpen.

Hubbard will return to play when they take on Struthers on Monday as Lakeview will take on Harding on Saturday.
