LADY RAIDER 8U PUTS ON SHOW FOR BATTLE FOR THE RANGE
CANFIELD, OH- South Range once again held their signature event called “Battle for the Range” which featured their 8u and 10 teams with cameo appearances from South Range Varsity Softball Players volunteering their time and efforts. This year in the 8u game, Magic Moments and Southwoods battled to a thrilling 12-12 tie, with Eliana K shining at the plate, going 3-for-3 with singles in the first, third, and fifth innings.
Magic Moments started strong, scoring in the top of the first when Eliana singled in a run. But Southwoods responded quickly, taking a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the inning with key singles from Marley, Bella 1, Adrian, and Tessa.
Southwoods extended their lead with two more runs in the second, thanks to RBI singles by Carmen and Raelynn. However, Magic Moments flipped the game in the third, scoring five runs on six hits, highlighted by a two-run triple from Myiah B to take an 8-7 lead.
The game continued to seesaw as Bella 1’s single helped Southwoods tie it up at eight in the bottom of the third. Magic Moments pulled ahead again in the fourth with singles from Sadie F and Belle C, making it 11-8.
In the bottom of the fifth, Southwoods rallied to tie the game at 12, with Tessa’s single driving in the tying run.
On the mound, Marie C started for Magic Moments, allowing 11 hits and seven runs in one inning, striking out one. For Southwoods, Bethany pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up 20 hits and 12 runs, striking out three.
Magic Moments’ offense was led by Eliana, Belle, and Gabriella B, each with three hits. Myiah, Sadie, and Kaitlin C drove in two runs each, while Hannah W added two hits.
Southwoods’ offense was equally potent, with 23 hits. Bella 1 and Sarah led with three hits each, while Tessa and Bella 1 drove in three runs apiece. Bella 2, Ellie, Charlotte, Bethany, Carmen, Marley, and Raelynn all had multiple hits.
Next up, Magic Moments will travel to Struthers 2 for their game on Thursday.
