MOONEY CRANKS UP THE HEAT ON SALEM

SALEM, OH- The temperature is falling outside, but inside John A. Cabas Gymnasium, Cardinal Mooney was cranking the heat up on the host of the Holiday Tournament with a 56-37 victory over Salem.

Mooney was incredible defensively in the first half, limiting Salem to just six points heading into the locker room while pouring in 30 points, offensively.

Rocco Turner led all scorers with 21 points, including five buckets from outside the perimeter.  Mooney also had two other scorers reach double digits which included Ashton O’Bren’s 12 points, and Jaxon Menough’s 10.  Jack Pepperney would include 8 points on the night as well, alongside Jibri Carter’s five points.

Salem was led by Drew Weir’s dozen points and silky-smooth jumpers from the elbow.  Cade Rohm and Davis Koskinen each chipped in six points, while the Quakers were also supplemented by Cam Sampson’s five points and a four-point night from Brock Young.

Both teams will continue in the 2021 Salem Holiday Classic on Thursday as Salem will host South Range at 5:30, and Cardinal Mooney will battle Neshannock in the Title Game at 7:00 on YSN.
