MOONEY STEALS ONE FROM JFK

NILES, OH- Saturday saw Cardinal Mooney taking down Warren JFK with a solid 6-3 win.

The action kicked off right in the first inning when Kennedy slipped up with an error and a passed ball, both of which Cardinal Mooney capitalized on to grab an early two-run lead.

As the game progressed, Trent Litman stepped up in the third inning, delivering a key single on an 0-2 count that drove in two more runs, padding Mooney’s lead.

On the mound, Ben Oddis was in fine form for Mooney, holding Eagle hitters to just one hit and no runs over five innings, racking up five strikeouts despite walking six. Freddy Bolchalk, on the other hand, had a rare tough outing for Kennedy, surrendering four runs over five innings and taking the loss. Ryan Reese came in to seal the deal, picking up the save for Mooney.

Trent Litman was the standout at the plate, driving in four of Mooney’s six runs and collecting two hits. Oddis also had a good day with the bat, contributing two hits himself. The team’s defense was sharp, turning two double plays to stifle any Kennedy momentum.

For Kennedy, Caleb Hadley, Santino Ciambotti, Taggart Carfangia, and Nico Ciminero each managed a hit. Ciambotti also knocked in two runs, while Carfangia showed patience at the plate, drawing three walks. The team showed discipline overall, accumulating eight walks in the game.

Looking ahead, Mooney is set to hit the road for their next match against St. Vincent-St. Mary this Monday, hoping to keep their winning momentum going.  JFK will look to get back to their winning ways against Aquinas on Monday.
