IT’S NOT EASY BEATING GREEN; SPARTANS FALL

CANTON, OH- Saturday’s game at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium was a tough one for Boardman, as they struggled to find their rhythm against a sharp Green team, eventually falling 8-1.

The action started early when Green jumped ahead in the first inning. A combination of a single from Jacob Harrelson, a costly error by Boardman, and a double by Aidan Twigg quickly put three runs on the board. Green didn’t let up, tacking on two more runs in the second inning with RBI singles from Kaden and Harrelson again, stretching their lead early.

Mason Nawrocki shouldered the loss for Boardman after a challenging outing where he gave up five runs across nine hits in just over an inning of work.

Despite the tough day, Boardman did see some action at the plate. Charlie Young, Dylan Barrett, Landon Whippo, and Marty Stachowicz each managed a hit, with Kaden Mayhew driving in the lone run for Boardman.

Defensively, Boardman turned a double play which was a small highlight in an otherwise challenging game.

Green, on the other hand, was hitting well all day, racking up a total of 15 hits. Jacob Herrelson was particularly lethal, going 4-for-4 and batting in three runs. Both Kaden and Brady also had a good day with the bat, contributing multiple hits each. Green’s base running was aggressive, successfully stealing four bases throughout the contest.

Boardman will look to shake off this game and regroup as they host Austintown-Fitch on Monday. They’ll be hoping to turn things around and get back on track with a stronger performance at home.
