NEWTON FALLS WALKS OFF TO TITLE GAME

It came down to the last play, but Rootstown was on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to Newton Falls on Tuesday. Newton Falls trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Holly Hedge doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Newton Falls got things moving in the first inning. Emily Knight homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

In the top of the seventh inning, Rootstown tied things up at three. Shelbie Krieger grounded out, scoring one run.

Sophia Tvaroch was in the circle for Newton Falls. The fireballer surrendered four runs on eight hits over eight innings, striking out six.

Krieger led things off in the circle for Rootstown Rovers Varsity. The bulldog allowed eight hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out 14.

Rootstown had eight hits in the game. Natalie Hammerschmidt, Delta Nichols, and Jessica Hahn each racked up multiple hits. Hahn, Nichols, and Hammerschmidt all had two hits to lead.

Newton Falls racked up eight hits in the game. Hedge and Lexi Drake each had multiple hits.
