RAIDERS STEER THEIR SHIP CLOSER TO DISTRICTS

CANFIELD OH- South Range began its bid for their third consecutive district championship on Wednesday as they led wire to wire to beat Grand Valley 52-42.

There were plenty of times where Grand Valley pushed it close. But a big Raider run to open the game would constantly keep them ahead every time Grand Valley made a push. The biggest moment in the game was in the second quarter when the Raiders lead was cut to 17-16. South Range answered with a 7-0 run to go up 24-16. They’d carry a 33-24 lead into the half. The Raiders were able to stabilize their lead in the second half. It ballooned to as much as 15.

Lexi Giles led the Raiders with an impressive 26 point performance. Emma Cunningham was also in double figures with 10. No one else scored more than 4, however 6 other players scored for the Raiders. Their combined 16 points were crucial to the Raiders win.

The Raiders advance to the sectional final on Saturday. They will travel to Waterloo. The tip is scheduled for 1:00.
