RAIDERS SURVIVE SCARE AT HUBBARD

Hubbard volleyball has been in the midst of a rebuild the last couple seasons, with only 4 wins coming in to Tuesday night they gave South Range all they could’ve wanted. The Raiders escaped Hubbard with a five set victory (25-23 19-25 25-20 24-26 15-10).

From the first point of the game Hubbard set the tone with their defense. They did a tremendous job the whole match keeping balls in play and just giving themselves a chance at getting the point. The Raiders struggled through every facet of the game, but everything started with their serving. Both receiving, and sending them over caused problems for the Raiders. They had 11 service errors as a team on the night. The saving grace for the Raiders was their defense. They gathered 66 digs as a team, on a night where long rallies were common.  The Raiders saw a lot of chances to win the match earlier than the fifth set slip away. They struggled to hold on to leads. They had a 20-14 lead in set 4 before ultimately dropping it. South Range was able to come out in the fifth set and take control of it early. The Raiders escaped Hubbard with the five set win.

Anna Primavera lead the offense with 15 kills, and 6 digs. Izzy Lamparty was also in double figures with 13 kills, 6 blocks, and 2 digs.  Emily Irons had 32 assists, and 7 digs. Reagan Irons finished with 29 digs.

The Raiders return to action Wednesday as they travel to Ursuline.
