RED DEVILS LEAVE SPARTANS BLUE

Conneaut, OH- Crestwood Red Devils secured an 11-1 victory over the Conneaut Spartans on Tuesday in an opening round game of the OHSAA playoff tournament. The Red Devils were red hot at the plate, highlighted by a commanding performance with six runs in the fifth inning.

The Red Devils wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Bella Hunter’s homer in the first inning drove in two runs, setting the tone for the game.

Their offensive onslaught continued in the fifth inning, where they scored six runs on four hits. Contributions from Mia Gullatta, Kaitlyn Huffman, Ashlyn Weaver, and Erin Hallis fueled Crestwood’s momentum.

Adding to their lead, Grace Harper’s home run in the sixth inning further solidified Crestwood’s dominance.

Hunter, the starting pitcher for Crestwood, delivered a stellar performance, allowing only one run over six innings while striking out 10 batters.

On the Conneaut side, Alexis Brown took the loss despite a commendable effort, pitching six innings and striking out five batters.

Despite the loss, Maddy Drew stood out for the Spartans, driving in one run and going 2-for-3 at the plate.

For Crestwood, Harper led the team with three RBIs, while Huffman’s 3-for-4 performance at the plate anchored their offensive production. The Red Devils will move on to play Marlington in the Division 2 Sectional Championship game. The Spartans will exit the OHSAA tournament with this loss.
