GARFIELD GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH AARON GILBERT

GARRETTSVILLE OH- Don’t adjust your screen, even though we are talking with Aaron Gilbert, it is not basketball season. Coach Gilbert coaches more than just girls basketball at Garfield, he’s also the head coach of the Girls Soccer team. It wasn’t a job he expected to last for seven seasons, but it seems everywhere he goes success follows. What started as just a way to make sure the student athletes have the experience they deserve from a sport turned into a program that has had plenty of success.  This season, Garfield is as athletic as anybody, but they are a young group.  Coach Gilbert’s ability to develop players over the course of a a season will be put to the test.

Coach Gilbert took the time to talk with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig about the current season they are in.  They discuss why experiences in high school athletics is so important, what Garfield is capable of this season, and so much more.

GARRETTSVILLE OH- It’s officially tournament time in Garfield. The Lady G-Men find themselves as a two seed in the Northeast district.  Being the two seed gave them the right to be the highest seed in their own bracket, which they gladly took.  Garfield has their sights set on a MVAC for in the sectional semifinals on Wednesday against Campbell.  Interesting enough, if they win they have another MVAC opponent Champion waiting for them.

Garfield head coach Aaron Gilbert has done a great job this year reloading after losing so many great seniors from a year ago.  He took time to talk with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig about the excitement of tournament time. Check out this exclusive interview only on YSN!

GARRETTSVILLE OH- The teams that got the closest to state in the basketball arena are coming in to 2022-2023 with hopes of taking that next step closer. Garfield falls in that category. Their girls were one of the few teams in the YSN family to still be alive in the Regional round.  Although they fell short in Cuyahoga Falls, there are a ton of reasons to be confident they can get there again this season. They lost key pieces to graduation for sure, but they have players who are hungry to grab their opportunity to shine.  Last season the G-Men finished with a record of 19-7 (11-3) which was 3rd in the MVAC.  They start their campaign this season on November 19 as they host a good Bristol team.

Garfield head coach Aaron Gilbert brings stability to the program in another year coaching at Garfield. He sat down with YSN’s Ty Bartell to give us a good preview of the season. GARFETTSVILLE OH- It is time for her another championship game for Garfield’s girls basketball team. It’s the third year in a row that the Lady G-Men have played for a district championship. For the third year in a row it’s the same opponent as well. Garfield Will matchup with new conference rival Champion in an all too familiar district title matchup. The two teams split their regular season meetings.

GARRETTSVILLE OH- The Garfield girls basketball program is coming off a very successful season where they made it to regionals. They are also returning a ton of talent that got people expecting big things in 2021. Head coach Aaron Gilbert has been with the program long enough to see the hills and valleys. He thinks the key to this season is everyone grasping that because of the success they have, they will also have every team’s best effort. Garfield opens the season at home against West Branch.
