AUSTINTOWN OH- Austintown Fitch sophomore running back D.J. Williams is a man of few words, but a lot of potential.

As the young back rushed for 3 touchdowns against a tough Canton McKinley defense. Letting his game do all the talking for him, Williams looks to continue his progression with Fitch the following two seasons.

As Fitch looks to have their running back position locked up for the next few seasons. The game from Willaims against The Canton McKinley Bulldogs is just the start of what he is capable of.

Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell sit down with the first football Big Dog of The Valley this season to talk about just that!

FITCH COMES BACK STRONG

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Falcons Ground Mooney’s Flight
On a hot Friday September night.

The Austintown Fitch Falcons did battle with the historic Cardinal Mooney Cardinals.

In what was the 45th time these two teams locked horns. There is no doubt that Mooney had dominated the rivalry, going 30-14 versus The Falcons all-time.

However, Friday night belonged to The Falcons. Starting off with possession, Fitch took their opening drive down the field and punched it in for the opening touchdown!

Coming into this game, quarterback Devin Sherwood was now Fitch’s all-time leading passer, which Austintown showcased a multitude of times.
Totaling three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground, Sherwood showed why he is simply one of the best in the area.

Dan Evans III grabbed a pair of touchdowns and Tyler Evans had 100+ yards receiving to go along with a touchdown on the night.

Fitch with the victory goes to 3-1 on the season. While Mooney falls to 0-5, a record that Mooney has not seen in 20+ years!

Fitch has a tough matchup with Massillon Washington (3-2) for week 6. While Mooney will look to right the ship against Youngstown East (1-4) next week.

IRISH WIN INSTANT CLASSIC IN AUSTINTOWN

AUSTINTOWN OH- In a game that was easily a candidate for game of the year. Two powerhouse programs duked it out on Friday night, in what was nothing short of a slug fest.

The Austintown Fitch Falcons and Ursuline Fighting Irish exchanged scores throughout the entirety of the game. Mirroring each other every step of the way in scoring, turnovers, and special teams.

The Falcons utilized a strong balanced attack of passing and rushing down the stretch. With DJ Williams and Tyree Mitchell’s names being called a majority of the second half.

However, The Irish picked a four-leaf clover in DeMarcus McElroy to turn to. With an impressive 4 touchdowns to go along with 359 yards on the ground Friday night. Good enough for 2nd all time in Ursuline history.

As both sides exploded on offense the entire game, two plays from The Irish defense stood out. With both a 2-point conversion stand and a blocked field goal attempt from The Irish, foiling Austintown’s comeback efforts in the final 30 seconds of the game.

The Irish (3-1) travel to Warren to take on The Harding Raiders (1-3) for week 5. As The Falcons(2-1) look to refocus, with another holy matchup versus The Cardinal Mooney Cardinals (0-3) on September 17th.

AUSTINTOWN COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH TJ PARKER

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Week one gave more momentum to one of the Valley’s best teams in Austintown Fitch.  A win in the West-Side Rivalry provided the start that Coach TJ Parker and the Falcons were looking for to start the new campaign.  While impressive, it was Week 2 that really showed the fortitude of the Dirty Birds.

Canton McKinley gave Fitch a handful at Tom Benson Stadium, but it was once again the Falcons that packed the biggest punch from whistle to whistle on their way to a 42-28 victory.

Week 3 will look a bit different as GlenOak was forced to cancel the matchup due to COVID-19 restrictions, giving our Falcons a week to rest, and prepare for Ursuline in Week 4.

Our DJ Yokley got a little extra sauce this week as Coach Parker splits his time with sophomore runningback, DJ Williams in a special Fitch Coach’s Corner and Player Profile Combo!
