BEAVER LOCAL WINS OT THRILLER OVER ZEPS

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- The Beaver Local Beavers won an OT thriller 13-12 over the Shenandoah Zeps. The teams were tied 6-6 going into overtime, as both teams scored touchdowns, but could not convert the extra point. The Zeps took possession first, and scored, but went for a 2-point conversion and failed to convert, making it 12-6. When the Beavers got the ball, it took 3 plays to punch it into the end zone on an 11-yard touchdown run from Tanner Johnston, one of our G. Burbik Farms Player of The Game. Our other G. Burbik Farms Player of The Game Chase Flati, the sophomore kicker, took the field to attempt the PAT. With the 1st OT on the line, Flati delivered, putting the kick through the uprights and winning the game for the Beavers.

The Beavers improve to 2-1, as they prepare to face local rivals, East Liverpool.

BEAVER LOCAL FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH MIKE MCKENZIE (EP 2)

After a very tough loss to West Branch in Week 2, Coach McKenzie didn’t waste time turning the page toward his Week 3 opponent, Shenandoah.

This week there proves to be much on the line and serves as a measuring stick for the rest of the year so to speak.  With a win this week- The Beavers come home with a winning record, and some swagger going into a rivalry matchup next week.  A win this week shows that they can the ability to bounce back from adversity and to stay focused on what’s ahead.

EVERYTHING IS EARNED FOR GIVENS

There was a saying in Cleveland a few seasons ago that said: “Nothing is given, everything is earned in Northeast Ohio.”  For Beaver Local Beaver power back, Garrett Givens- truer words have never been spoken.

For Givens, he’s earned every rep he’s ever taken for the red and white, and after a disappointing loss last week, Double G is standing tall and ready for Week 3!

Our Michael McKenzie caught up with Garrett to discuss the mentality of the team, and how to generate more offense against Shenandoah to come out with a winning record moving into next week.

KENDALL KEEPS HER EYES ON THE PRIZE

With so much happening in Beaver Local, it’s hard to keep an eye on the stellar start they’ve had to their season.  Before Tuesday Night, the Lady Beavers came in with a 5-1 mark overall heading into the much-anticipated rivalry game with East Liverpool.

One of the mainstays on this Lady Beaver team has been Senior Madison Kendall.

The voice of the Beavers, Michael McKenzie sat down with Kendall prior to the Potter game and talks about nerves, tradition, and how they continue to rally around their missing teammate.

BEAVER LOCAL VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH SARAH LOWE (EP 1)

There’s nothing better than a rivalry game.  Except- of course, when it’s THE RIVALRY GAME.

Last night East Liverpool and Beaver Local locked horns in the Beaverdome and renewed the rivalry in a match that while the Lady Potters ultimately took the victory, Beaver Local looked outstanding as well.

This matchup is one that is so even- it’s as if each team is looking in the mirror.

Our Michael McKenzie caught up with Beaver Local Head Coach Sarah Lowe prior to the game last night to discuss the rivalry, mentality, and overall strategy for the Lady Beavers in 2018.

Here is Beaver Local Volleyball Coach’s Corner with Sarah Lowe (EP 1):

GO GO GARCIA!

When you score three touchdowns in the opening week of your season, it’s hard not to get excited for what’s to come in Week 2!  For Beaver Local’s Donovan Garcia-it’s business as usual.  Garcia comes in as arguably the most underrated back in the area, but that’s a role he’s willing to take on with a smile.

Donovan Garcia is out to prove to the world that he’s a top-tier ball carrier, and prove it he will.

What does a game like that do for confidence, is there more adrenaline playing in front of a home crowd?

BEAVER LOCAL COACH’S CORNER WITH MIKE MCKENZIE (EP 1)

BEAVER LOCAL IMPRESSES AGAINST HARRISON

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- The Lady Beavers impressed as they handled the Lady Huskies 3-0, winning game 1 25-17, game 2 25-13, and game 3 25-8.

Early leads from Beaver Local and communication problems from Harrison Central were key factors in this one. Madison Smith made her name known as she did not let Harrison Central on their heels the entire match, as she takes home the G. Burbick Farms Player of the Game honors. As the Beavers open the season 2-0, it should also be noted that they have not lost a set to this point, winning both matches 3-0.

The Lady Beavers will look to continue their winning ways when they visit Edison on August 27.
