CANFIELD KNOCKS OFF KENSTON IN REVENGE TOUR

CANFIELD- The Canfield Cardinals got revenge over Kenston in week 2 of the playoffs, after Kenston knocked off the Cardinals playoff run in the 2018 regional final game. This matchup on Friday night featured two young stars at quarterback, Broc Lowry for Canfield, and Nikko Georgiou.

The first half of this ballgame was a slow start for both offenses. The Cardinals got the first score of the ballgame, after a Broc Lowry touchdown run from 4 yards out. Early in the second quarter, Kenston’s defense came up big with a safety to put the Bombers on the board. The first half ended with a baseball-like score of 7-2 Canfield.

Although the first half was slow offensively, the Cardinals offense was shot out of a cannon to start the second half. Senior fullback Chris Sammarone started off the second half scoring, with a 6-yard touchdown run. Sammarone would strike again on the Cardinals next possession, with the biggest play of the game, a 80 yard touchdown reception to extend the Canfield lead to 19. The Bombers offense was in the red zone numerous times in the second half, but we’re only able to put up 8 points.

Canfield would take the victory by a final score of 28-10, and will take on St. Vincent-St. Mary next Friday at Bob Dove field. We will have the game on YSNLIVE.com, starting at 6:55 P.M.
