FALCONS SWEEP SATURDAY MORNING QUAD MATCH

AUSTINTOWN OH- On a brisk Saturday morning, a quad-match was set to take place at Austintown Fitch Highschool.

The four teams represented in the match were The Austintown Falcons, The Cardinal Huskies, The Poland Bulldogs, and The Strongsville Mustangs.
In what was a day of sheer dominance by Coach Jody Bartlett’s Falcons. Fitch faced off against all three teams in 3-set matches.
The Falcons did not play three sets the whole day. Winning in straight sets in all 3 matchups.

The Falcons looked as complete as ever, with senior libero Ella Sahli starting the team into their offense with an abundance of digs throughout all three matchups.

Complemented with sophomore Afton Roby playing superb net defense and emerging as one of The Falcons new up and coming weapons.

As Fitch (10-1) will now look to travel in matchup number two with The Howland Tigers (5-9) on Tuesday night.

RAMS STEAMROLL PAST CARDINAL

MINERAL RIDGE OH-

Maddy Ylonen was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Tuesday, driving in four on three hits to lead Mineral Ridge past Cardinal 21-2 on Tuesday. Ylonen drove in runs on a single in the first and a grand slam in the first.

Mineral Ridge secured the victory thanks to 15 runs in the first inning. The offensive firepower was led by Kaylee Repp, Ylonen, Hannah Baird, Megan Gerberry, Rosie Nolder, and Aaliyah Wall, all driving in runs in the frame.

The Rams got things moving in the first inning. Repp singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Ylonen pitched Mineral Ridge to victory. The righty went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Alaina Rupinski took the loss for Cardinal. Rupinski lasted four innings, allowing 17 hits and 21 runs while striking out two.

The Rams launched one home run on the day. Ylonen put one out in the first inning.

Mineral Ridge had 17 hits in the game. Courtney Boyer, Ylonen, Morgan Sigley, Wall, and Repp all had multiple hits. Ylonen and Boyer each managed three hits to lead.

MOONEY GRABS TWO WINS OVER FALCONS

GAME 1:

Cardinal Mooney stole the lead late and defeated Jefferson 8-5 on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Cardinal Mooney batting in the bottom of the fifth when Marissa Landers drew a walk, scoring one run.

Alaina Scavina led the Cardinals to victory by driving in four runs. Scavina went 2-for-4 at the plate. Scavina drove in runs on a home run in the fifth and a home run in the sixth.

Scavina got the win for Cardinal Mooney. The righty lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out seven. Alaina Francis threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Francis recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

The Cardinals smacked two home run on the day. Scavina went yard in the fifth and sixth innings.

Cardinal Mooney tallied 11 hits on the day. Parker Sheehan, Marissa Bowman, Scavina, Francis, and Sam Holden all managed multiple hits.

GAME 2:

Alaina Francis drove in four on three hits to lead Cardinal Mooney past Jefferson 11-3 on Saturday. Francis drove in runs on a single in the fifth and a double in the seventh.

Jefferson scored three runs in the seventh inning, but Cardinal Mooney Cardinals Varsity still managed to pull out the victory.

Cardinal Mooney scored eight runs in the seventh inning. Grace Raymer, Gia Diorio, Sam Holden, and Francis each had RBIs in the frame.

Francis led the the Cardinals to victory on the rubber. The pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Cardinal Mooney scattered 11 hits in the game. Francis, Parker Sheehan, and Alaina Scavina all managed multiple hits. Francis went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.
