REBELS STARTING TO BUILD MOMENTUM

COLUMBIANA OH- Freshman Luvrain Gaskins leads all ladies in scoring on the Lady Rebels last game of 2021 with 16 points Wednesday night to take down the Lady Bears from Leetonia 61-28.  The lady Rebels (3-5) remain undefeated at home on the season and with another high scoring game the ladies looked to be running on all cylinders with another high scoring game.  The lady Rebels will travel for a MVAC game against the Campbell Memorial Lady Red Devils on January 3, 2022.
Other lady Rebels’ to get in on the scoring action this evening (unofficial) was Senior Emily Hill (10), Senior McKenna Schultz (10), Senior Karsyn Moore (8), Freshman Reagan Edwards (7), Sophomore Katie Lissi (6),  Sophomore Emily Downey (2), and Freshman Lexi Blower (2)
Leading the Lady Bears this evening was the lone Senior on the young lady Bears team Allison Francosky with 13 points.  The lady Bears end the year with a 5-4 record as they will host Southern Local Lady Indians in the new year on January 3, 2022.
Other contributions by the Leetonia Lady Bears were from Junior McKendra Cole (10), Junior Ella Gregarino (3), and Sophomore Kayla Kaminski (2)

BEAVERS STAND TALL ON THE ROAD

COLUMBIANA OH- Beavers’ Skylar Pappas put up 13 points in the 1st quarter tonight against the Crestview Rebels to take an early 23-9 lead over the Rebels in the first quarter.  The Beavers would hold the lead the entire game only allowing the Rebels to pull within 5 points in the 3rd quarter run by the Rebels.  The Beavers finished 2021 with a huge 60-46 win at Crestview’s High school gymnasium.  This win takes the Beavers to 5-3 on the season.

Kirkland Miller’s leading 20 points for the Rebels was not enough as the Rebels end the year with 3-6 on the season as they only put up 46 points against the Beavers this evening.

Others scoring for the Rebels’ tonight(unofficial) Wyatt Miller (9), Anthony Cusick (7), Jack Yerkey (7), Jonathan Best (2), and Cade Hancox (1)

As impressive as Pappas 13-point 1st quarter was,  he finished the night with 14 total points, other teammates contributing to the 60 points were Ethan Agnew(17),  Logan Blissenbach (11), Austin Cline (8), Noah Bowyer (5) as well as Brady Smith (5).

Beaver Local Beavers 23-10-14-13 = 60

REBELS TOO MUCH FOR EAST LIVERPOOL

COLUMBIANA OH-Senior Emily Hill and Sophomore Emily Downey both put up 12 points in tonight’s win against the Lady Potters to assist the Lady Rebels’ 44 points this evening at Crestview’s High school gymnasium.  This much-needed win takes the Rebels to 3-5 on the season as the Lady Rebels’ look to find their new identity with the loss of several key seniors from last season.

Gabby Green’s leading 6 points for the lady Potters was not enough as the Lady Potters fall to 2-6 on the season as they only put up 21 points against the Lady Rebels’ this evening.

Other ladies scoring for the lady Rebels’ tonight (unofficial) Freshman Luvrain Gaskins (8), Freshman Reagan Edwards (6), Senior McKenna Schultz (2), Junior Madalyn Black (2), and Sophomore Katie Lissi (2)

The Lady Potters others contributing this evening were Aynsley Galeoti, Brooklyn Vantilbury, Shayla Foster all with 4 points while Cate Davis nailed a 3 in the last quarter.

REBELS BREAK THROUGH AGAINST CHAMPION

COLUMBIANA OH- Three Rebel players combined for 42 points as Crestview defeated Champion 61-52 in Friday night basketball play.

The victory pushed the Rebel record to 2-4. Kirkland Miller  and James Best each scored 15 points to pace the Rebels and Wyatt Miller added 12 points.

Champion was led by Juayon Edwards scoring a game-high 19 points.

Crestview returns to the courts Tuesday night as they travel to Brookfield.

LEOPARDS TAKE BIG STEP IN MVAC

LIBERTY OH- Liberty took a big step in MVAC play on Tuesday night as they took a victory from Crestview. Wins like this early in the season will pay dividends for the Leopards going forward. Liberty battled with the Rebels all night to win 63-57.

The Leopards were led by James Davis who put together a monster 27 point performance. Jaden Townsend was also in double figures for Liberty with 12 points. Jalen Turner added an important 7 points to the Leopards win.

The Rebels were paced by Kirkland Miller with 22 points. Wyatt Miller also found himself in double figures with 13 points. Jack Yerkey added 8 points to the cause.

Liberty will look to stay on the right path Friday as they host Brookfield. Crestview will try to bounce back Wednesday as they play Heartland Christian at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

 

REBELS RISE UP AGAINST UNITED

HANOVERTON OH- The Crestview Rebels jumped into the victory column after a 56-34 win over the United Eagles.

The visiting Rebel’s Kirkland Miller scored a game-high 25 points with Wyatt Miller dropping in 9 points to improve Crestview to 1-1 on the young season.

The game was decided in the middle two frames as the Rebels outscored United 32-12. The Eagles paced his team with 14 points. United drops to 1-2.

Both teams return to action Friday with United travels to Leetonia and Crestview goes to Springfield.

SOUTH RANGE, GARFIELD, CRESTVIEW, EDISON FILL LIST OF DIVISION V ALL-OHIOANS

COLUMBUS, OH- With South Range and Garfield going undefeated all regular season, and well into the post-season, you knew these two teams would fill up the accolade count when the award season came around.

They did not disappoint.

The Raiders were led by Dylan Dominguez’s first-team selection, who became the first South Range running back in history to have 3 consecutive 1000 yard seasons for the Burgundy and Gold. He was joined on the first team by record-breaking Junior Signal-Caller, Billy Skripac as well as Michael Lally and Logan Cormell.

Second teamers for South Range include Jacob Brooks on the offensive line and linebacker, Tyler Remish.  Bailey Ryan would head the third team, and the tandem of Connor Jones, Ayden Leon and Shane Lindstrom were named honorable mention.

Garfield landed their star running back, Anthony Demma on the first team, with Riley LaPorte garnering the same honor on the offensive line.  Brody Swigonski wrapped his senior year with a third-team all-state selection as well.  Austin Roman hauled in an honorable mention on the offensive line, while sophomore Keegan Sell made the team as a linebacker, and Colin Lysiak did the same on special teams.

Crestview had a couple of standouts make the list, as Anthony Cusick etched his name at honorable mention QB, and his teammate Roclen Bettura joined him at linebacker.

Edison’s Jacob Cusick was selected to the second team, and sophomore, and Chase McClurg joins the team as an honorable mention linebacker with Hunter Russell landing on the offensive line.

We congratulate these young men on representing their families, communities, school and program at the highest level this season!

ROCKETS JUMP OUT IN FRONT

LOWELLVILLE OH- The Crestview Rebels could not dig themselves out of a 12 deficit after the opening quarter and dropped a 58-53 contest against  the visiting  Lowellville Rockets on Tuesday.

Lowellville’s  Vinny Ballone had a game-high 20 points and his teammate Anthony Lucente added 15 points to pace the 1-0 Rockets.

The Rebels were led by Anthony Cusick and Jack Yerkey each with 14 points.

Lowellville will stay on the road on Friday as they travel to Girard. Crestview will be back in action Tuesday as they go to United.

TIGERS FIND FIRST WIN FOR MATISI

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- The era of Tiger basketball under coach John Matisi began with a win on Monday night. The Tigers handled business against Crestview with a 59-31 win.

Jacey Mullen led the Tigers with a very impressive 26 points on the night. Madi Lesnak was also in double figures with 10 points for the Tigers. Marianna Tuscano chipped in a solid 9 points.

Crestview was led by both Luvrain Gaskins, and McKenna Schultz with 9 points a piece. Karsyn Moore added 6 points to the Rebel cause.

Springfiekd has a big test next as they’ll travel to Liberty on Thursday. Crestview is also back in action on Thursday as they host Lowellville.

GIRARD HITS THE GAS IN THE SECOND HALF

GIRARD OH- Girard got their season started the right way on Wednesday night as they used a dominant second half to run away from Crestview 47-23.

Girard ran out to a 19-10 lead through a quarter and half. However, the Rebels fought back and ended the half on a 7-0 run. They took clear momentum in to the locker room and trailed by just two 19-17. Then Girard busted out in the second half. They outscored Crestview 28-6 in the final two quarters. They did it with constant pressure that forced countless turnovers.

Seyhan Dede led the Indians with 15 points on the night. Girard also got solid contributions from Mia Malito, and Sieasia Triplett who both scored 8. Abbie Rafferty added 9 points as well.

Crestview was led by Emily Downey who finished the night with 9 points. Luvrain Gaskins contributed 7 points on the night.

Girard will look to stay in the win column on Monday as they travel to LaBrae. Crestview will look to bounce back on Monday as they travel to Springfield.
