LADY BULLDOGS OUTLAST HEARTLAND

EAST PALESTINE, OH- Just one night after suffering a loss to EOAC rival, Columbiana, East Palestine Head Coach Jess Franklin had her team focused, and ready to go against a strong Heartland Christian program.  The Lady Bulldogs came out ready in the first set and set the tone in a 3-2 (25-15, 23-25,25-15, 21-25, 15-6) victory on Wednesday.

Freshman Ceci Foster led the way with 18 points, 10 digs, 8 assists, and 4 aces, while her sister Sophia had 17 digs, 12 points, 6 kills, and 5 aces as well.  Other key contributors for EP were Mia Lee and her 17 dig, 13 point, 11 kill night, and Gia Brestelli’s 17 digs and 4 aces from the service position.  Mackenzie Parker was also clutch with 10 assists, 9 points, and a pair of aces.

The two teams went back and forth in sets, and while it came down to the fifth set, neither team could truly take over the match.  Heartland’s Emma Hall was all over the floor for the Lady Lions and kept the Bulldog defense uneasy in all five sets.  Sophomores Bella Drokin and Elise Winterstellar also created problems for East Palestine, as Winterstellar was a force at the net all evening, and Drokin’s play from deep in her own zone, including her serves were key in keeping pace.

East Palestine (2-2) will now eye up Lisbon on Saturday Morning at 11 in the Devil Dome in an effort to create their first winning record of the season.

LADY CLIPPERS SWEEP PAST EAST PALESTINE

EAST PALESTINE, OH- Columbiana rolled into town on Tuesday night, and the Lady Clippers were all business against their EOAC Rivals.  Columbiana (4-1) buzzed the Bulldogs in straight sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-22) to stay perfect in the conference.

Julia Rapp led the way with 10 kills, 3 points, a block, and an ace, while Tori Long had 12 points, 11 digs, 7 kills, and a pair of aces.

Other contributions included Olivia Cmil’s 14 digs and 6 points, Tomi Ross’ 12 points, 10 assists, and 12 digs, and Ellie Jackson’s 12 assists and 9 points.

For East Palestine (1-2) Sophia Foster filled up the stat sheet with 5 points, a pair of aces, and six kills.  Mackenzie Parker had 9 assists and 2 points, while Mia Lee had 10 kills.  Elle Berger also chipped in with 8 points and a kill of her own.

The Lady Bulldogs will get little rest as they prepare to welcome Heartland Christian on Wednesday night.  Columbiana will try to keep up their winning ways at home against Southern on Thursday.

EAST PALESTINE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH TONY FOSTER

EAST PALESTINE, OH- A long year in 2020 led to a short offseason for East Palestine, and as the season begins a week earlier than usual, EP Lead Dog Tony Foster feels there is still work to do. Nevertheless, Foster will lead the Brown and White on the road to start the season in Malvern where the Bulldogs will tread on an unfamiliar territory to begin the 2021 campaign.

YSN’s DJ Yokley was invited into the lovely home of the Foster Family for a late-night breakdown of the summer that was, and the season that can be in Bulldog Country. What new players will step up this season? What leaders will emerge? How are the Cleveland Browns involved with the football team? Where did the team get a new water cooler?

All those questions are touched on and more in this edition of East Palestine Coach’s Corner with Tony Foster.
