GAMBLE AND CLIPPERS BLANK PALESTINE

COLUMBIANA OH-

Mackenzi Gamble threw a shutout to lead Columbiana past East Palestine 17-0 on Monday.

Gamble led the Clippers to victory by driving in five runs. Gamble went 3-for-4 at the plate. Gamble drove in runs on a home run in the first and a triple in the third.

Columbiana got on the board in the first inning. Gamble homered on a 3-1 count, scoring three runs.

One bright spot for East Palestine was a single by Morgan Rutledge in the first inning.

Gamble led the Clippers to victory on the rubber. Gamble lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out 13.

The Clippers tallied two home runs on the day. Maci Linhart went deep in the first inning. Gamble had a dinger in the first inning.

Clippers scattered 17 hits in the game. Ava Davanzo, Gamble, Tori Long, Julia Rapp, Audrey Smith, and Alaina Johnston all managed multiple hits for Clippers. Davanzo led Clippers with four hits in four at bats.

EAGLES BATS COME ALIVE IN WIN OVER PALESTINE

HANOVERTON OH-

Mikey Bardo was bad news for opposing pitchers on Tuesday, driving in five on two hits to lead the United Eagles past East Palestine 20-4 on Tuesday. Bardo drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the third, and a walk in the fourth.

An early lead helped propel United to victory. The Eagles scored on a walk by Tanner McCormack, a stolen base by Bardo, a walk by Parker Berdine, a walk by Dante Rapp, a single by Nevin Hahlen, and a single by Bardo in the first inning.

United Eagles Varsity notched seven runs in the third inning. Landon Rhoades, Rapp, Hahlen, Bardo, and Dylan Grubbs all drove in runs in the frame.

Hahlen led things off on the hill for United Eagles Varsity. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out nine and walking zero.

United racked up 11 hits in the game. Rhoades, Bardo, and Hahlen all collected multiple hits. Hahlen, Bardo, and Rhoades each collected two hits to lead the Eagles. United stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Bardo led the way with three.

UNITED WINS SLUGFEST IN GAME 1 WITH BULLDOGS

EAST PALESTINE OH-

United earned a hard fought 14-13 win over East Palestine to begin league play tonight.  Trailing 13-7 going into the top of the 7th inning, United batted around and plated 7 runs then held East Palestine in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.

Leading the Eagles were Tori Firth (3-5) with a double, Savannah Burton (double), and Colby Burton (Triple).

Firth pitched 6 innings to get the win with 12SO along the way.

The Eagles welcome the Bulldogs to Hanoverton tomorrow for another game.

HEADED HOME: EAST PALESTINE BULLDOGS BASEBALL PREVIEW

EAST PALESTINE, OH – Bill Sattler, former YSU star and Montreal Expo AAA pitcher, is the head coach for the East Palestine Bulldogs. In his first year as head coach, Coach Sattler is dealing with some inexperienced players at the varsity level. Many of the Bulldogs are young and with missing out on last year due to COVID, the process to get on the field and practice has been challenging. Coach Bill Sattler has his Bulldogs have been working on basics which he understands is the key to success. Day to day and game by game with a lot of teaching. Coach Sattler has a plan to turn this Bulldogs program around and get them headed into the right direction.

EAST PALESTINE GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH WILL FRANKLIN

EAST PALESTINE, OH – Playoff time has come for head coach, Will Franklin and the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs as they advanced into the district semi-finals with an impressive 52-34, victory over Burton Berkshire! Up next for the Bulldogs will be a road match-up with the South Range Lady Raiders with an opportunity to advance to the district championship game!

YSN’s own, DJ Yokley, was able to sit down with Coach Franklin this week via video chat to discuss the Lady Bulldogs season so far, what it was like winning the EOAC for the first time in program history, what the Lady Bulldogs were able to do against Berkshire, and what we can expect from East Palestine in this district semi-finals game.

TIGERS TAKE A BITE OUT OF BULLDOGS

Joey Kline had a big night for the Tigers as Newton Falls opened the 1st  round of  Division III tournament action with a 63-21 win over the visiting East Palestine Bulldogs.

Newton Falls held the Bulldogs scoreless in the 1st quarter 13-0 and held a 41-6 halftime advantage.

Kline scored 19 points and pulled down 10 boards for the Tigers. Foe East Palestine Dom Wycott scored 11 points for his team.

On tab next for the Tigers is a friday night  home game against the Liberty Leopards in a sectional finals contest.

BIG SECOND HALF SENDS PALESTINE TO DISTRICTS

BURTON OH- Down 19-14 at the midway mark, the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs outscored the hosts Berkshire Badgers  38-15 in the final 2 periods to take home a 52-34 win Saturday afternoon.

Morgan Rutledge paced the way  for East Palestine netting 16 points and Joclyn Fristik also scored 16 points.

With the victory the Bulldogs will travel to South Range to do battle with the Lady Raiders next Wednesday night in a Division II tournament contest.

VALLEY BLASTS BY BULLDOGS

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Valley Christian built up a 40-17 midway point advantage and rolled past the visiting Bulldogs 66-27 in Friday’s play.

11 different Eagle plays made the score-book with 10 points each coming from Mark Revere and Jon’Trell Mixon as they improved to 11-4 overall and 10-3 in the EOAC.

East Palestine’s Weston Jones scored 9 points. Valley Christian will travel to Columbiana to take on the Clippers Saturday and the Bulldogs will play a double-header at Southern also on Saturday.

PALESTINE SETS UP TITLE GAME

LEETONIA OH A big defensive 1st quarter of play lead the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs to a 38-34 win over the Leetonia Lady Bears in Wednesday nights play.

The Bulldogs defense stopped the Bears offense as they jumped out to a 12-2 1st period advantage.  The Bears made a game of it in the 2nd half out-scoring the Bulldogs 20-13  in the final to quarters.

Jocyln Fristik paced the Bulldogs with 12 points followed by Payton Sherry with 9 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Leetonia was lead by Allison Francosky with 9 points.

East Palestine will travel to United for a rematch with Eagles on Thursday. The game will decide who sits atop the EOAC. Leetonia will host Heartland on Saturday.

UNITED UNSTOPPABLE AGAINST BULLDOGS

EAST PALESTINE OH- United traveled to East Palestine Tuesday night for some hoops action and took home a 64-35 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Eagles grabbed a 21-8 1st quarter lead  and shut down the Bulldogs the final 3 frames.

Nate Miller poured in 21 points for the Eagles and Steffen Jarrett added 11 points.

For the Bulldogs, Dom Wycoff dropped in 14 points.

United returns to play Wednesday night as they go to Southern while Palestine travels to Valley Christian Friday night.
