JUSTIN TIME FOR LISBON

The heartbeat is strong in Lisbon this year!  Among a great group of Seniors stands a leader with flowing locks like Thor, and plans to drop the hammer on opposing defenses.  The Devil’s Tailback, Justin Sweeney is detailed as an athlete, not just a football player.  He makes opposing coaches cringe with the athleticism, and versatility he possesses.

But in a great sit-down with Tyler Hoffman, Justin breaks down his love for his new coach, as well as what he wants to do after his Blue Devil days come to an end.

LADY RAIDERS NE8 DEBUT SPOILED BY BULLDOGS

The Raiders volleyball team lost their first conference match of the year Tuesday night to Lakeview in 4 sets (25-23 13-25 19-25 22-25)

The Raiders won a back and forth set 1 as they took advantage of poor hitting by the Bulldogs. The Raiders tallied 10 kills in set 1 and Anna Primavera had 6 of them. The Raiders also only surrendered 3 attack errors which helped them win set 1 25-23.

In set 2 the Bulldogs found a hole in the Raiders defense and exploited it. The soft attacks to the middle of the court were the poison of choice as the Dawgs ran away with set 2 13-25. The Raiders only had 5 kills and also 5 errors to hit 0% in that set.

In set 3 the Raiders were hitting better much like set 1, however the soft attack of Lakeview was still giving the Raider defense fits. Junior Abby George came up huge in that set with 3 kills and 3 blocks. The Raiders were tied at 18-18 but Lakeview rattled off 6 points in a row to take a 18-24 lead and eventually the set 19-25.

In set 4 the Raiders acquired their first lead since the beginning set of the game 15-14 but Lakeview would storm back. Emily Irons working as an outside hitter while not setting was able to gather 3 kills during set 4 which was a tight affair, the Bulldogs would rally late to take it 22-25 and the match 3-1.

Anna Primavera now dubbed “Prime Time” showed off in her YSN broadcast debut earning a double double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Abby George had 8 kills and 3 blocks. Jenna Barbessi with 7 kills. Drew Feren lead in assists with 14 while Emily Irons had 9. Mary Kuhns was solid in the back row with 16 digs. The Raiders return to action Thursday night at Poland.
