ALL SHANE, NO SHAME

CANFIELD, OH- If you’ve ever seen the impressive, and unique play of players like Julian Edelman, and Wes Welker, you’ll be familiar with South Range’s Shane Lindstrom.  A shifty, speedy athlete who is a threat no matter the yard line or down and distance.

Add on that Lindstrom’s talent is coupled by his leadership, generosity, and work ethic – well, then you have the game-changing, once-in-a-generation-type player that fans love to watch, and his opposition hates to see.

Lindstrom can get the job done with or without the football in his hands, just seeing number 11 in burgundy and gold is enough to command a double team, effectively opening up another teammates opportunity.  That’s only the beginning, though.  Shane takes his studies very seriously- being the son of a teacher, proving that he’s counting on more than his yards after the catch to pull him through school.

We sat down with the star student-athlete for South Range to talk about his senior year, who’s knocking on his door, and where his athletic talents stem from- which you’ll want to see.  All that and more on the South Range Player Profile of Shane Lindstrom.

PHER WHAT IT’S WORTH

CANFIELD, OH- Head down, stoic, quiet.  Three words that describe the majority of South Range football players dating back over 50 years.

Enter Christopher Colucci.

A young man who has pure joy, and passion not only for his school, community, and family but to all that know him.  Colucci has an outgoing personality that shines through past his golden locks and Disney-like smile.  When Pher walks into a room, he changes it for the better.

His outstanding work-ethic has posted him as one of the top lineman on the South Range roster in football, as well as a state champion in wrestling, and most recently an All-American selection.

We had the great fortune to sit down with the young man they call “Pher” in this week’s South Range Player Profile: Pher What It’s Worth

Now just pending BOE approval in the week to come, Demster looks to get things rolling, and to help get numbers back up and the record back on track to championship-caliber football.  A task that Coach Demster knows will not come easy- but one that will come with commitment.

We sat down with the new Head Coach of the Bulldogs and talked about his plans as he moves into the next phase of East Palestine Football this Fall.

YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH COLE PETERSON

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Colleges are starting to wrap up the spring semester and pretty soon summer football camp will begin. No one is more excited than Cole Peterson for this time of year as you can always find him roaming the sidelines bringing the energy at Stambaugh Stadium for the Penguins on Saturdays!

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with the newest member of the Youngstown State Penguins football coaching staff, Cole Peterson, to talk about some of the excitement around the program and upcoming season, as well as, what made Cole want to be a member of the YSU staff, what it’s like to become the next college coach in his family following in his father’s footsteps, and much much more!

LUDWIG TO TOLEDO: LEAVING TOP RECRUITS CHASIN’ MASON

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- There was an arms race in Northeast Ohio, and unless you were near Potter Country- you probably knew very little about it.  However, in the days, weeks, and for years to come, East Liverpool Potter multi-sport athlete Mason Ludwig will be making sure you remember his name.

The 6’5, 280 pound prospect made his commitment to the University of Toledo last week after being courted by 14 Division I institutions to protect their backfield.  Ludwig who has been stacking up accolade after accolade, and making fans reimagine what a multi-sport athlete looks like, and how he performs on the court.

You see, Mason just doesn’t play the sports he competes in.  He excels in them.  He moves mountains in football, can transition to quickness in hoops, and can hit from beyond the arc, and he ABSOLUTELY mashes in baseball.  With his intimidating presence on the field, his soft-spoken nature presents a peace that can only be settled on the field of play- but he’s as engaged in the classroom as he is between the lines, promoting a 3.9 GPA at ELHS.

We had the chance to sit down with the future Rocket and talk shop before practice on this East Liverpool Player Profile: Chasin’ Mason.
