RAIDERS SLIP AWAY FROM STRUTHERS

CANFIELD – The South Range Lady Raiders hosted the Struthers Lady Wildcats on
Monday night where the Raiders were able to advance to 2-1 on the season with a

able to take control, and keep control all through the 2nd half.  The Raiders never
looked back and got an early victory in the season over the Wildcats.
For the Raiders, Izzy Lamparty, once again led the team in points with 19 on the night.
Behind her was Lexi Giles who added 15 points with three excellent 3s on the night for
her. Gabby Lamparty, just like her sister, had another great night with 13 points. For the

RAIDERS OVERPOWER SALEM ON THE ROAD

SALEM OH- South Range came in to Thursday’s game at Salem fresh and ready for a battle. They had not played since Saturday when they lost to division 2 power house Laurel. Salem on the other end was coming off an already busy week. They beat United on Monday, and fought to the end to take home a close win over Poland on Wednesday. The Raiders used their freshness to jump out in front of Salem early and never look back. The Raiders had to deal with a scrappy Salem team in the second half, but it wasn’t enough. The Raiders won 69-54.

The Raiders offense got off to a great start, scoring 43 first half points and leading by 18 at the break. Izzy Lamparty has 16 first half points propelling the Raiders offense.

The South Range Raiders couldn’t have found a much bigger challenge than traveling over an hour to Shaker Heights to play one of the top division 2 teams in the state in the Laurel Gators. The Raiders found themselves down early. They trailed by as much as 13 in the first quarter. They battled back though in the second quarter. They cut the lead to five as the second quarter went on. Laurel managed to stop the run for the moment and lead 29-22 at the half. But the Raiders had momentum.

The Raiders stormed out of the gates in the third. They went on a 7-0 run and tied the game up at 29-29. Then a little later, Lexi Giles made a great pass to Gabby Lamparty, and Lamparty finished to give the Raiders their first lead of the game. With a 38-36 lead, the Raiders gave up some easy buckets to give Laurel control back, and the Gators would not give it up. They dominated the rest of the way and eventually won 71-52.

Izzy Lamparty led the Raiders with 19 points. Gabby Lamparty added 13 in a great effort. Giles was also in double figures with 10.

RAIDERS BACK ON TOP IN DISTRICTS

STRUTHERS OH- South Range came in to Saturday’s district championship with two dominant tournament wins under their belt. The same theme rang true for the Raiders as they controlled Crestview 48-32 for their fourth district championship in the last 7 seasons.

The first quarter was competitive as the Rebels worked hard on defense to keep the Raiders in check. Stopping Izzy Lamparty was a must for them, and in the first quarter she only hit a single bucket from the floor. Addison Bandy knocked down a three and scored 5 points in the first frame as the Rebels only trailed 13-9.

It was only a matter of time though before the Raiders offense found open looks against the Rebel zone. In the second quarter the dam broke and Lexi Giles was a big reason. Giles knocked down three triples in the second quarter and Gabby Lamparty knocked down another two. The Raiders exploded out to a 34-14 halftime lead.

Down twenty at the break was a tough task for the Rebels. They fought hard all throughout the second half to at least stop the bleeding. Krista Perry finally got going in the fourth scoring 5 of her 6 total points. The Raiders were just too much to come back from as they rolled in this one 48-32.

Lexi Giles led the Raiders with 16 points while Gabby Lamparty had a strong day with 12. Izzy Lamparty found herself still in double figures with 10.

Tanner Hoffer led the Rebels with 13, 6 of which came in the final frame.

The second quarter was when the Raiders stormed ahead. They outscored the Clippers 15-5 in the frame. Those 5 Columbiana points also came in the first minutes of the quarter, so the Raiders ended the half on a 13-0 run.

The second half brought more of the same story. Columbiana just couldn’t find enough consistent scoring to make a comeback attempt, A big boost for the Raiders defense was holding the Clippers leading scorer Kayla Muslovski scoreless in the game.

RAIDERS LOOKING FRESH; ADVANCE PAST PALESTINE

CANFIELD OH- East Palestine came in to Saturday’s sectional final against South Range high off their win over Waterloo on Wednesday night. The Raiders made a fast start an emphasis all week. To describe their start to this game as fast would be an understatement. They used an explosive first quarter to roll past the Bulldogs 55-34.

The Raiders started the game on a 23-0 run using their press defense to stifle East Palestine’s offense. The end of the quarter showed a 25-1 Raider advantage. Izzy Lamparty proved to be a huge matchup issue for Palestine, especially in the first quarter. Trying to break a press with her in the middle proved near impossible.

The Bulldogs seemed to calm down after being punched with that first quarter outburst. They scored 11 in the second, thanks to a couple good plays by Morgan Rutledge on defense leading to quick buckets, and a good drive and scoop from Payton Sherry. Paige Snyder also had a strong frame. The Raiders added 18 more points to close the half with a 43-12 lead.

The Bulldogs never quit fighting as the game went on and showed great resiliency facing a big deficit. They held the Raiders to just twelve second half points.

Izzy Lamparty led the Raiders with 19 points, and 7 rebounds. Lexi Giles also had a strong day with 18 points. Gabby Lamparty notched a season-High 7 assists.

Paige Snyder and Joclyn Fristik both paced the Bulldogs with 10 points.
