SKY IS THE LIMIT

BELOIT OH- West Branch softball does have a lot of new faces on their team, but they have mixed it with several awesome senior leaders. One of those leaders is Skyler Greeneisen.

Skyler has gone through four years in the program and has grown a ton as a player, and a person. As a player, she bring the thunder to the middle of that lineup. A lineup that is already highly feared by opponents of the Warriors. Skyler has already hit a grand slam this season, with a handful of other home runs as well. She didn’t have all the confidence in the world coming in to the season she says, but we bet she does now! Skyler is off to one of the hottest starts of anyone in the YSN family.

Skyler is the older of two Greeneisens that you’ll see on the Warriors roster. She has an opportunity that not everyone gets, which is spending a year sharing the softball diamond with her sister. She certainly isn’t taking the blessing for granted, and trying to soak in every moment of the season with her sister. Some moments may be better than others, but it is clear that these two sisters make eachother better.

Skyler took the time to talk with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig this week about her senior season. They discuss not only her dynamic with her sister, but also her relationship with Coach Woods and how it’s grown over the years. SHEELY FEELS RIGHT AT HOME

YOUNGSTOWN OH- It’s been a high school career full of tons of success for Alyssa Sheely. But this senior season, it may be one of the few down spots of the career feeding her and her teammates drive to compete. The way last season ended for the Irish, being so close to that state tournament in Akron has left an impact on this team. Everything they do this season is with a purpose to get themselves to Akron. Sheely will be a big reason why they make it, if they end up at Firestone stadium at the end of the season.

Sheely has stepped in to much larger leadership role this season. She has been a statistical leader on the team for quite some time, no doubt about that. Now, after losing three seniors who were all college level talents, the emotional and energy leadership responsibilities fall on Sheely’s shoulders. She doesn’t let that pressure get to her though. She still does so many things that make her team better that go way beyond the numbers in the stat book.

Alyssa has chosen a future landing spot to play softball at the next level. Sheely will be continuing her athletic and academic career at Slippery Rock University. She will be joining her former teammate Julia Nutter. She says while Julia being there wasn’t the only thing that made the decision east, it was definitely a factor.

Alyssa was able to go over all of this and more with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig this week. She talks with him about the drive that fuels her in the sport, some of her biggest role models, and much more. You will not want to miss this Ursuline softball player profile exclusively on YSN!

ITS SO EASY BEING GREEN

BELOIT OH- West Branch has plenty new additions to their softball squad this season. One of the bright stars that is a new arrival is freshman Ragan Greeneisen.

Ragan has already made herself a solid spot at the top of the Warriors lineup. She has proven to have a high on base percentage and is great at setting the table for the awesome power hitters a little further down the lineup.  She is also stepping into the middle infield, which is a tough place to be thrown into. Her glove is impressive, and reliable which is key for playing second base. She is clearly a front runner for the conversation of the best new faces in the YSN softball family.

Ragan isn’t the only Greeneisen on the team. Her sister Skyler is venturing into her final year with the Warriors. And there is no one better at keeping Ragan on track than Skyler. They have a fun dynamic, that may include some butting of heads but at the end of the day it is built on love and respect for each other’s craft. You can bet that Skyler’s influence is a big ingredient to Reagan’s immediate impact on the team.

Ragan took time to talk with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig this week to discuss what it’s been like to come on to such a successful program. She also talks about her relationship with Skyler, her busy sports schedule, and much more. Don’t miss this exclusive West Branch softball player profile!
