BOARDMAN CANT HANG ON AGAINST TAMPA

SARASOTA FL- Tuesday’s game against Tampa Catholic was a heartbreaker for Boardman, as they lost the lead late in a 10-7 defeat. The game was tied at seven with Tampa Catholic batting in the bottom of the fifth when Abbey Taylor-Bolt’s sac fly scored one run.

Boardman lost despite out-hitting Tampa Catholic 13 to six.

The Spartans got things moving in the first inning, when Nadia Rawhneh drew a walk, scoring one run.

Boardman scored three runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Tori Strines and Jenna Olexa.

Tampa Catholic scored six runs in the fourth inning. Their big bats were led by Kaela Culver, Makayla Highsmith, Olivia Cannella, and Angelina Ricciardi, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Bella Busciglio led the Tampa Catholic to victory in the circle. The fireballer allowed two hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.

Madison Lester took the loss for Boardman. Lester went three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on two hits and striking out one.

Culver started the game for Tampa Catholic. The hurler allowed 11 hits and seven runs over two and a third innings, striking out two

Boardman hit one home run on the day. Olexa had a four bagger in the second inning.

The Spartans racked up 13 hits. Maddie Dravecky, Olexa, Strines, and Cassidy Bryan all managed multiple hits. Olexa and Dravecky all had three hits to lead.

Cannella went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Tampa Catholic in hits.
