SHEELY FEELS RIGHT AT HOME

YOUNGSTOWN OH- It’s been a high school career full of tons of success for Alyssa Sheely. But this senior season, it may be one of the few down spots of the career feeding her and her teammates drive to compete. The way last season ended for the Irish, being so close to that state tournament in Akron has left an impact on this team. Everything they do this season is with a purpose to get themselves to Akron. Sheely will be a big reason why they make it, if they end up at Firestone stadium at the end of the season.

Sheely has stepped in to much larger leadership role this season. She has been a statistical leader on the team for quite some time, no doubt about that. Now, after losing three seniors who were all college level talents, the emotional and energy leadership responsibilities fall on Sheely’s shoulders. She doesn’t let that pressure get to her though. She still does so many things that make her team better that go way beyond the numbers in the stat book.

Alyssa has chosen a future landing spot to play softball at the next level. Sheely will be continuing her athletic and academic career at Slippery Rock University. She will be joining her former teammate Julia Nutter. She says while Julia being there wasn’t the only thing that made the decision east, it was definitely a factor.

Alyssa was able to go over all of this and more with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig this week. She talks with him about the drive that fuels her in the sport, some of her biggest role models, and much more. You will not want to miss this Ursuline softball player profile exclusively on YSN!
