BROOKFIELD SOLVES ROVERS PITCHING TO MOVE ON

BROOKFIELD, OHIO- The Brookfield Lady Warriors snagged a late lead and defeated Rootstown Rovers 7-5 on Thursday in the sectional final.

The game was tied at two with the Warriors batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one. The Warriors built a five-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off the Rover’s charge as they scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Zoe Noel and a single by Natalie Hammerschmidt.

Jenae Pugh, Sammi McAnany, Cadence  Huffman, Jasmine Hubbard, Katie  Logan, and Sophia  Hook each managed one hit to lead The Warriors at the plate.

Miranda Nicholson was the winning pitcher of the day as she allowed 11 hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

Shelbie Krieger took the loss for Rootstown. The hurler surrendered seven runs on six hits over six innings, striking out 12 and walking one.

Brookfield will now look to get back to the District Championship once again as they take on Poland in the District Semi Finals.
