POLAND STARTS WENDY’S CLASSIC WITH A BANG

ASHLAND OH- Poland defeated Indian Valley 12-8 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. It was a great way to open the Wendy’s Classic in Ashland. It is one of the premiere softball tournaments in the state of Ohio.

Poland trailed 6-5 in the top of the fifth inning when Mia Rose induced Meredith Trevis to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored.

Bats blistered as both Poland and Indian Valley tallied ten in the high-scoring game.

Poland captured the lead in the second inning. Sophia Dedo drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Indian Valley tied things up at one when Taylor Spillman drew a walk, scoring one run.

Indian Valley scored four runs in the fourth inning. Gracee Hudnall and Rose all drove in runs in the frame.

Katie McDonald led the Poland to victory in the circle. The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and eight runs while striking out three.

Rose took the loss for Indian Valley. The hurler lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and 12 runs while striking out 11.

The Bulldogs totaled ten hits in the game. Mary Brant, Connie Cougras, and McDonald each managed multiple hits. Cougras and Brant each managed three hits to lead.

Indian Valley collected ten hits on the day. Hudnall, Cameron Enos, and Rose each racked up multiple hits. Hudnall went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.
