MINERAL RIDGE, OHIO- The Mineral Ridge Rams hosted the Jackson-Milton Bluejays, in what was a nail biter of a game. The Rams got off to the hot start first and after a comeback by the Bluejays, the Rams led 29-22 at the half.
The Rams were led in scoring by Chase Moore, with 17, Jordan Moore, with 15, and Jon Rozzi, with 14.
Aaren Romigh led the Bluejays with 33 points and kept the Bluejays close to the Rams. The Rams were lifted by Chase Moore, who made 5 clutch free throws throughout the fourth quarter to secure the 65-59.
The Rams will try and finish the season strong with a two game home stand that starts Tuesday when they take on United. Jackson-Milton will also take on United, but on Monday night.

NORTH JACKSON OH- Springfield improved to 10-7 on the season Friday night with their 68-51 victory on the road over Jackson Milton.
Seandelle Gardner led the way with 21 points. Brandon Price added 14. Aiden Stanke led the Blue Jays with 13.
Springfield will travel to South Range for a big non conference test on Saturday. Jackson Milton will stay at home and host Western Reserve.

NORTH JACKSON OH- Every now and then you come across a team that has a player that you can’t take your eyes off of. When you make the trip to a Jackson Milton basketball game, you might find yourself under that effect with Aaren Romigh. The senior leader of the Blue Jays is without a doubt the straw that stirs the drink. An otherwise young roster is kept calm cool and collected by the level headed Romigh. We could talk about the talent he possesses on the floor all day, but the most impressive part of his game is his character. You will quickly realize that Romigh never takes part in the drama of a game. No chirping, nothing going on after the whistle, and always playing with the respect the game deserves. It’s because of this attitude that Jackson Milton is able to steer through some of the adversities of a game. It is a great example that all the youth of Jackson Milton can look to. The program will feel his legacy long after he graduates.

North Jackson, OH- The Waterloo Vikings traveled to take on the Jackson-Milton Blue Jays in MVAC Scarlet play on Tuesday night. The Vikings used a defensive effort to get past the Blue Jays.
The Vikings defense only allowed five points in the first quarter to take a 14-5 lead after one quarter. The Blue Jays countered defensively in the second quarter only allowing 8 second quarter points to pull within 7 points at the half. The Waterloo Vikings shot out of the gates in the second half, with a 7-0 run before a Jackson-Milton timeout. The Blue Jays came alive in the third quarter but still trailed 39-25 at the end of three. In the fourth quarter, Waterloo took a ginormous lead of over 20 points and cruised to a 55-42 victory.
The Vikings were led by Navarre Alhassan’s big fourth quarter scoring 22 total points. Alhassan made 11 free-throws in the fourth quarter to ice the game. Anthony Podojil was right behind with 15 points for the Vikings. Jackson-Milton was led by Ryen Romigh who scored 14 fourth quarter points and ended up with 18 total points.

NORTH JACKSON OH- The depth of Jackson Milton was put to the test Friday night. With Mineral Ridge in the house, the Blue Jays dealt with Aaren Romigh being unavailable and a couple of in game injuries. The bench of the Blue Jays came through for them though as they fought their way to a 59-49 win.
Leading the Jays was the tandem of Aiden Stanke, and Ryen Romigh. They both paved the way with 18 points. Edmund Gursky was able to add 6 to the cause.
Mineral Ridge was led by Trey Rigley who gave everything he had in a game-high 20 point effort. Tristan Valley was also in double figures finishing with 11 points.
Both teams venture out of the MVAC on Tuesday as Mineral Ridge hosts Mooney, and Jackson Milton welcomes in United.

BERLIN CENTER OH- In a game where Western Reserve was spending most of their time playing catch up to Jackson Milton, a late push was enough to give them a hard fought 59-52 win. The Blue Jays led at the end of the first three quarters, and although their lead never ballooned into a big problem, Reserve couldn’t seem to find a way to crack through. In the fourth quarter however it was a mix of timely shooting, and a few easy transition buckets that propelled the Blue Devils to win the frame 24-14.
It was a hard nose effort from Hayden Fellows that paved the way for Reserve. He was able to finish with a game-high 21 points. Dominick Ricciardi also finished in double figure for the Devils with 10. Luke Henning hit a pair of late threes on his way to 8 points.
Aaren Romigh was his same old self for the Blue Jays leading the scoring with 20 points. Ryan Romigh wasn’t too far behind him as he finished in double figures with 13 points. Ezekiel Brock chipped in 8 points for the Jays.
Western Reserve hits the road on Friday as they travel to Sebring. Jackson Milton returns home to face off with Mineral Ridge.

ATWATER OH- On the Tuesday following The New Years, The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference (MVAC) had conference contests in both The Scarlet and Gray Divisions. One of those respective games would be held in Fred Brookover Gymnasium in Atwater, Ohio. Where The Waterloo Vikings played host to The Jackson-Milton Blue Jays where both teams were 2-1 in The Scarlet Division entering Tuesday night.
The Blue Jays came in looking to stop a two game skid while The Vikings had momentum, riding a four game winning streak into the conference bout. However, Jackson-Milton cared little about momentum, grabbing control from the opening tip, grabbing a lead with an 11-5 opening run against Waterloo. Aiden Stanke was lighting up the court with shots from distance in the opening frame, leading The Jays to a 16-11 lead after a quarter.
The Vikings showed poise and confidence despite the deficit, a highlight Coach Jason Wise has seen a noticeable improvement in. As Waterloo was able to battle their way back into the ball game in the following frame, using offensive rebounds to give The Vikings additional looks from the field. Flipping the script on Jackson-Milton, Waterloo outscored The Blue Jays 17-11 in the second quarter to take a 28-27 halftime lead.
Keeping the momentum they gained in the previous half, The Vikings were as hot as a blowtorch to start the third quarter. Scoring furiously on a 9-0 run, Waterloo grabbed the first double digit lead for either team in the game. Anthony Podojil was scoring off some fantastic passing from Ryan Wise, while Podojil also hit a big three pointer that secured the ten point advantage for The Vikes. But The Blue Jays would not be pushed away that easily, with both Aaron and Ryan Romigh scoring from all areas of the court, slimming their deficit to Waterloo to three before the final eight minutes of play.
Looking to put the game away, The Vikings were trying to swing the momentum back in their favor, while The Jays were trying to fly away with the game in the fourth. The Romigh’s continued to find buckets in the fourth, threatening the Waterloo lead several times. But it was the play of Navarre Alhassan, who was The Player of the Game, scoring at will in the final quarter, including two deadeye three pointers as he finished with 26 points to lead The Vikings to the 58-50 victory over Jackson-Milton!
The win for Waterloo (7-2)(3-1) will keep them within one game of Lowellville in their conference. However, their next game will take them out of conference, as The Vikings host Crestwood (4-5) on Thursday, January 5th. Following the loss for Jackson-Milton (4-6)(2-2), The Blue Jays will now turn their attention to another conference rival, The Springfield Tigers (4-5)(3-1) where they will head to New Middletown on Friday, January 6th.

NORTH JACKSON,OHIO- The Badger Braves traveled to Jackson-Milton to take on the Blue Jays on Thursday night.
The Braves were led as usual by Duncan Moy and Brad Hamilton. Hamilton had a stellar night from the 3 point line as he hit 5 three pointers and finished the game with 21 points. Moy dropped 30 points, which included 3 dunks near the end of regulation. The Braves also had help from talented freshman, Lewis Flowers, who had 11 points and made some great defensive plays.
The Blue Jays were led by Aaren and Ryen Romigh. The Romigh brothers combined for 28 points and along with 6 three pointers made by Aaron Romigh.The valiant effort by the Romigh brothers was not enough as the Braves defeated the Blue Jays 78-39.

NORTH JACKSON OH- Lowellville is a team with high expectations this year inside the MVAC. There are a lot of preseason polls that have the Rockets finishing at the top of the conference. Some trams may let the outside pressure to succeed get to them, but that’s not how the Rockets fly. They came in to Tuesday night with a record of 3-0, and showed no signs of slowing down as their balanced offense ran loose on Jackson Milton in a 81-43 win.
The Rockets had five players finish in double figures. The leader of the scoring was Ryan Hvisdak finishing with 18. Anthony Lucente was just as impressive as he put in 15 points. Right behind him was Mark Dubas with 14 points. Rounding out the Rockets in double figures were both Michael and Vinny Ballone. They both finished with 11.
Jackson Milton got a good offensive contribution from Aaren Romigh who worked his way to 18. Ryan Romigh was also in double figures with the Blue Jays with 13 points.
Lowellville will take their undefeated record forward and return to action Friday as they host Western Reserve. Jackson Milton get back to work on Friday as they host Sebring.

COLUMBUS, OH- The division six All-Ohio football teams were announced on Monday Morning by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. YSN had 18 players represented on the first, second, third and honorable mention teams.
Starting at the top, two United Eagles got first team all offense with kicker Luke Courtney and wide receiver Grant Knight making the list. On the first team all defensive team was Crestview linebacker Roclen Bettura. We had one second team all offense selection, which belongs to Brookfield quarterback Donovan Pawlowski.
The third team all offense consisted of four local players including: Mineral Ridge RB Ian Erb, Brookfield WR Isaiah Jones, Newton Falls offensive lineman Wyatt Jones and Valley Christian standout Jontrell Mixon. The third team defense had one member in Mineral Ridge linebacker Nathan Rohrman.
The honorable mention team was full of local standouts with 9 making the list. On the linebacker team was Brookfield junior Kaiden Kirila and senior AJ Bartolin, along with Mineral Ridge senior Mason Miller. Two offensive linemen Dallas McCracken and Connor Heater made the list for United and Brookfield. Two more defensive backs were honored with Jackson Milton senior Owen McDevitt and Brookfield junior Brett Carsone. Valley Christian running back JeSean Lindsey and Mineral Ridge quarterback Triston Valley finished the honorable mention All-Ohio list.
