SPRINGFIELD TIGERS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH JEFF BRINK

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – Head coach Jeff Brink is back on the sidelines for another season of Springfield Tigers hoops as they will look to build on their consistency within the MVAC and Mahoning Valley as one of the powerhouse programs. Coach Brink is coming off a 2022-2023 campaign that saw the Tigers go 12-11 with a playoff loss to a talented Badger Braves team. This year however, Coach returns some key players and looks to keep that Tigers success running.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach Brink this week at the Tigers Table to talk about the offseason that the Tigers have been having, what their schedule looks like this season, who are some key players and potential standouts that not many fans have heard about yet, what his thoughts and expectations are for the upcoming season, and so much more!

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield has punched their ticket to the Salem district championship. A place this team is all too familiar with. Jeff Brink’s first year back to the program has been a fruitful one for sure. The Tigers dominated Garfield to get to this point. The defense was what shined the brightest. The Tigers held the G-Men to under 30 points. Next up for the Tigers is a Mooney team that is coming off one of their best shooting nights of the season. Springfield’s defense will need to be up to the task.

Jeff Brink took the time to come on YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about their tournament journey. He talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about their win over Garfield, what will need to be done to beat Mooney, and much more. NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield has their sights set on another district championship. This senior class has had so much success in every sport they play. It brings a huge display of leadership on to the floor for their basketball team. Springfield is taking it one step at a time, and not looking too far forward. Their next step is hosting East Palestine on Friday night in the sectional championship.

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Jeff Brink and The Springfield Tigers have had minimal time in the preseason to prepare for basketball season. However, this is nothing new to the Springfield community and their athletes!

Springfield, coming off a dramatic triple-overtime victory against The South Range Raiders, now look to sink their teeth against another NE8 opponent in Hubbard.

All before back to back conference games against Western Reserve and Jackson Milton respectively. 

The Tigers will take their 5-0 record and 3-0 conference record into The New Year, as New Middletown hopes 2022 will have a ring to it!
