LATE TROJAN RUN ENDS BLUE DEVILS SEASON

SEBRING, OH – The Lisbon Blue Devils boys basketball team came into Friday night’s game at Sebring McKinley in familiar territory. Just a year ago, the Blue Devils embarked on the same journey to Sebring to try to win a sectional championship and move onto the Struthers Fieldhouse for a district semifinal match up, that team ended up losing to Sebring. This year, the Blue Devils knew it was a chance at redemption and a chance to once again win a sectional title and move on to the district semis.

From the opening tip, the two squads seemed to be even, with both teams trading buckets and neither breaking free from the other. The Blue Devils took a 14-13 lead into the second quarter, behind Michael Davis’ shooting. The halftime score saw Lisbon maintain their lead by just one point, 26-25. The third quarter was much of the same as the two teams duked it out looking for any edge they could get, as the score remained a one point game going to the fourth, 35-34. The final quarter however, saw the Blue Devils begin to run out of gas as the Trojans kept executing and kept the tempo in their favor, as they would go on a 19-9 run, ending the Lisbon Blue Devils season once again, by a score of 53-44.

The Sebring Trojans were led by Dylan Johnson with 12 points, Jake Hunter with 11 points, and Gabe Lanzer with 10 points.

The Lisbon Blue Devils were led by Michael Davis with 20 points and Blayne Brownfield with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Ryan McCullough added in 4 points and 7 assists.

BATTLE OF BLUE DEVILS SEES LISBON ADVANCE

LISBON, OH- Everything heats up during tournament time. That was no different in Lisbon Tuesday night during the battle of the Blue Devils. Western Reserve came to play but it was the boys in Lisbon blue who took the home victory. Lisbon trailed by 2 after the 1st quarter then stayed in the lead for good, winning 48-43.

Credit the devils of Western Reserve for refusing to give up, at one point down by 11 they were able to close that gap to a 2 point difference. Lisbon’s perseverance paid off as they held on to win in a very competitive game.

Western Reserve was led by Noah Klasic with 15 points and 5 rebounds, Ryan Gordon chipped in 12 points.

Ryan McCullough logged 17 points and 7 assists for Lisbon. Blayne Brownfield also added 9 points and 3 rebounds.
