ROCKETS FINALLY SOLVE MCDONALD PUZZLE

LOWELLVILLE OH- Lowellville had struggled against McDonald for a while, a long while. The Rockets haven’t beaten the Blue Devils since their undefeated regular season of 2002. That all came to an end Friday though, as Lowellville blasted past the Devils to get their first win over them in 19 seasons. The Rockets doubled up McDonald 40-20.

Vinny Ballone was rocking on the night. He finished with four total touchdowns. He scored 3 with his arm, and 1 with his legs. He gained 355 yards of total offense. (261 passing, and 94 rushing) The Rockets totaled 537 yards total on offense, to 294 to McDonald.

Logan Hawk did have a solid night running for the Devils. He gained 148 yards on 12 carries. Nathan Gillian was held to 40 yards on 15 carries. Both of them punched it in for a touchdown.

Lowellville will try to keep the momentum going as they host Mineral Ridge in Week 9. McDonald will try to bounce back against Waterloo.

BLUE DEVILS SILENCE SEBRING

MCDONALD OH- The Blue Devils had a couple of tough road games to start the week. They were able to return home on Thursday, and it felt good being home. The Blue Devils swept away Sebring to earn their 15th win. (25-16 25-8 25-18)

Maria Rasile, and Gianna Constantino both led the team in kills with 12 a piece. Megan Klockner secured another double double with 19 assists, and 10 digs. Sheryaliz Bonilla led the defense on the night with 27 digs.

Olivia Hawk led the Trojans with 6 kills on the night. Mallory Harshman finished the game with 6 assists, and 6 digs. Delaney Reggi had a match high 28 digs.

McDonald closes out the regular season Tuesday hosting Windham. Sebring will head to Jackson Milton on Monday.

BLUE DEVILS EXACT REVENGE ON RIDGE

MINERAL RIDGE OH- McDonald got a good old fashioned revenge match on Tuesday night. They avenged a loss to Mineral Ridge earlier in the season by beating them in four sets on the road. (25-21 17-25 27-25 25-21)

Gianna Constantino led the Devils on kills, and earned a double double with 15 kills, and 20 digs. Maria Rasile also gathered a double double finishing with 18 assists, and 23 digs. Megan Klockner was the third double double for the Devils. She finished with 23 assists, and 21 digs. Sheryaliz Bonilla led the defense with 35 digs.

McDonald will return home on Thursday to host Sebring. Mineral Ridge will try to bounce back Saturday against Columbiana on the road.

VIKINGS WIN WILD MATCH AGAINST MCDONALD

LEAVITTSBURG OH- It was a tightly contested marathon of a match on Monday night between LaBrae and McDonald. Featuring multiple volleys that went over 30 seconds. The Vikings were able to come out on top in four sets (25-16 25-23 22-25 25-22)

Summer Pumphrey shined bright for LaBrae. She landed a monster double double with 19 kills, and 26 digs. Rylee McDonough had a double double as well with 16 kills, and 15 assists. Ashley Monroe led the Vikings in assists with 27. She was the third Viking to complete a double double grabbing 27 digs. Taylor Burns led in digs with 29.

McDonald had a stat filled night as well. They were led by Maria Rasile who finished with a triple double. She had 11 kills, 23 digs, and 22 assists. Gianna Constantino had a double double with 17 kills, and 19 digs. Megan Klockner also grabbed a double double with 25 digs, and 21 assists. Sheryaliz Bonilla led the defense in digs with 29.

LaBrae will continue conference play on Tuesday as they travel to Champion. McDonald also hops back into their conference slate going to Mineral Ridge.

BLUE DEVILS SHINE AGAINST SPRINGFIELD

MCDONALD OH- McDonald continued to keep pace in the MVAC on Tuesday as they swept Springfield to move to 9-2 on the league. (25-20 25-14 25-8)

Maria Rasile led the Blue Devil offense with 7 kills. Gianna Constantino, and Madison Srock both finished right behind her with 6 kills. Megan Klockner added another double double to her collection with 15 assists, and 12 digs.

For the Tigers, Madi Lesnak finished the night with 6 kills. Sam McKim played fantastic defense in the back row with 22 digs. Gianna Piccuta collected 8 assists.

McDonald will hit the road on Thursday as they travel to Jackson Milton. Springfield will also be on the road as they travel to Sebring.

TIGERS CRASH MCDONALD’S STADIUM DEBUT

MCDONALD OH- It was an exciting night in McDonald as the Blue Devils opened their brand new football facilities. It was Springfield coming to town, and the Tigers looked to continue their roll through the MVAC. The Blue Devils went down the field and scored on their first drive to take a 7-0 lead. Unfortunately for them, the next 49 points of the game came from the Tigers as Springfield spoiled the new stadiums debut with a 49-7 win.

The win gave head coach Sean Guerriero his 100th win in his career. A huge milestone for one of the area’s most highly respected coaches.

Springfield moves to 5-1 on the year and will move on to week 7 as they host Waterloo. McDonald will look to get back to winning as they welcome in Western Reserve.

MCDONALD HOLDS DOWN VIKINGS

MCDONAKD OH- McDonald got a win inside the MVAC on Thursday to move to 8-2 in the league. McDonald quickly swept Waterloo to close out their week. (25-14 25-14 25-14)

Maria Rasile led the offense with 14 kills on the night. She also compiled 9 assists. Megan Klockner had a great night finishing with 20 assists, and 7 kills, and served up 4 aces. Sheryaliz led the defense with 12 digs.

Both teams will be home on Tuesday to continue league play. McDonald will host Springfield, and Waterloo will host Lowellville.

MCDONALD KEEPS THEIR MOMENTUM

MCDONALD OH- The Blue Devils are still flying high from their upset of Western Reserve last week. They kept their momentum going on Tuesday with a sweep of Lowellville. (25-11 25-20 25-14)

Gianna Constantino had another great night for the Devils finishing with 14 kills, and 9 digs. Megan Klockner, and Maria Rasile split the setting duties. Rasile finished with 14 assists, and Klockner had 13. Sheryaliz led the defense with 24 digs.

Both teams return to action on Thursday as McDonald will travel to Waterloo, and Lowellville will host Mineral Ridge.

BLUE DEVILS HAND RESERVE FIRST LEAGUE LOSS

MCOONALD OH- All season Weatern Reserve has been making quick work of their MVAC opponents. In the first matchup with McDonald, Western Reserve swept. It was a completely different story on Thursday as McDonald turned the tables and beat the Blue Devils in five. (25-20 13-25 25-16 15-25 15-13)

Gianna Constantino led the Blue Devils with 15 kills on the night. She also finished with 9 digs and 2 aces. Maria Rasile finished with a rare triple double getting 22 assists, 12 digs, and 11 kills. Megan Klockner recorded a double double with 21 assists, and 19 digs.

Alyvia Hughes shined bright for Reserve despite the loss. She finished with an impressive double double with 22 kills, and 21 digs. Gianna Paris had a triple double with 27 assists, 10 kills, and 13 digs. Hannah Diaz impressed with her offensive power getting 20 kills.

McDonakd will look to keep their momentum on Tuesday as they travel to Lowellville. Western Reserve will need to bounce back on the road Monday at Liberty.

BLUE DEVILS FIND A WAY TO FIRST WIN

MINERAL RIDGE, OHIO. In a nail biting match on the gridiron between the Mineral Ridge Rams and the McDonald Blue Devils, ultimately ended in victory for the Blue Devils as they hang on at the last second putting a stop to the Rams late attempt to tie the game with a 21-14 win.

Rams quarterback, Mark Bunch threw for 218 yds with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception as his tremendous effort just was not enough to put the Rams in the win column once more.

On the other side of the ball the two-headed monster quarterback and running back duo of Logan Hawk and Nathan Gilligan combined for a total of 305 rushing yards with also a combined total of 3 touchdowns and that was enough to hold off the Rams as the Blue Devils earned their first win of the season.

The Blue Devils look to improve their record to 2-3 with a win next week against the Mckinley Trojans. Mineral Ridge look to jump back into the win column next week as they will take on Springfield.
