GIRARD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH PAT PEARSON (EP 5)

Another big victory in Week 8 for Girard, and let’s talk about the guys who don’t get the credit all the time necessarily, the guys up front!

Coach Pearson sits down with YSN’s Britt Taylor and talks about the way that the boys up front have changed the game for Girard.  As well as how the defense has stepped their game up from a chain-gang mentality.  Britt also talks about how the boys have cleaned up their game from a penalty standpoint.

All that and more on this week’s Coach’s Corner with Pat Pearson!

CAN’T STOP HOP

The Columbiana Clippers are still on that roller coaster of the fall, starting out the season 0-3, the Clips have come back into playoff focus, and are now considered one of the most dangerous teams in the area.  Getting hot at the right time has its advantages, such as knowing what you need to get to week 11.

For Clipper Seniors, this is an all too familiar feeling.  They’ve been down this road, seen this movie, however you want to chalk it up, the Class of 2019 have been here before.  So, for Co-Captain Erik Hopfenziz, his dedication to success is spreading like wildfire in the locker room and on the field.  Hopfenziz is a multi-sport, multi-talented athlete who leads by example.  He is one of the most liked athletes not only for his performances but his sportsmanship as well.

Our Mark Franken caught up with Erik earlier this season and is featured for our Columbiana Clipper Player Profile: CAN’T STOP HOP

URSULINE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH LARRY KEMPE (EP 8)

A tough loss in Spartan Stadium last week to a very good Boardman team has the Irish coming back refocused and refreshed in Week 9.

Throw the records out the window!  It’s Mooney Week at UHS!  The Holy War is upon us, and a win tonight for the Irish stamps the season a success no matter the win-loss column.

What does Coach Kempe say to fire up the troops?  How does a win this week set things up for the finale?  Is there extra motivation?

TOMMY BOY

We seemingly talk about it every week.  The rich tradition and heritage of Cardinal Mooney and their football program.

The Cards continue to churn out player after player into the next level, but the school continues to mold young minds into great leaders, and representatives of Youngstown, Ohio.  This week we caught up with Senior Linebacker and Tight End, Tommy DeCesare.  Not only does he exemplify the previous statements, but has great vision on and off the field.

Being a natural optimist has helped DeCesare battle his way to the top of the mountain in and out of the classroom, and a mindset that he’s pushing to his teammates with two weeks to go in the season.  As Mooney looks to find their place in Week 11, Tommy DeCesare is already raising the State Championship Banner in his mind.

This week our Steve Leslie caught up with DeCesare in our newest edition of Cardinal Mooney Player Profile: TOMMY BOY.

SOUTH RANGE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH DAN YEAGLEY (EP 8)

Tough schedules can break good teams.  They can also make great teams.

South Range is trying to determine what side they will stand on in 2018, and if previous weeks are any indication, the Raiders are looking to finish strong!

St. Clairsville is boarding the Pirate Ship this week for a game with all kinds of determinations for the burgundy and gold.  Another possible win and they are in scenario is on the docket, and we sat down with Coach Yeagley to discuss what the task is at hand in Week 9, as well as what he and the boys learned in last week’s game vs. Louisville.

Also, a social media question and answer you won’t want to miss (We’ll say a prayer for you, Coach! 😀 )

GIRARD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH PAT PEARSON (EP 3)

The Tribe took care of business on Friday night when they dethroned the Devils to advance to 5-1 on the year.  Coach Pearson continues to preach focus to the Indians who are determined to make this a historic year in Girard.

As the Indians gear up to battle with Brookfield, revenge is on the mind from a defeat by over 50 a few years ago.

Will the Tribe continue to roll?  Can they continue to stay locked in?

Find out all that and more as YSN’s Britt Taylor sits down with Pat Pearson in this week’s Girard Coach’s Corner

CARDINAL MOONEY FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH PJ FECKO (EP 4)

If you’ve ever been inside the gymnasium at Cardinal Mooney, it serves as a constant reminder of rich winning tradition everywhere you look.  Quite literally, the walls are blanketed in championship banners from pillar to post.

The 2018 Cardinals have been tasked with adding to those walls under one of the toughest schedules in the state of Ohio.  They have yet to blink.  Sure- they want to win, but humble warriors in defeat are the most dangerous of all.

The Cards look to bounce back after a tough loss to Akron St Vincent-St. Mary’s last week, and are dialed in for Week 5!

Head Coach PJ Fecko sits down with our Steve Leslie to discuss the opportunities ahead for the Cards in this week’s Cardinal Mooney Coach’s Corner!
