REBELS TAKE DOWN REIGNING CHAMPS

The Crestview Rebels advanced to the South Range District Championship on Tuesday night with a 6-0 victory over Waterloo.

The Rebels scored quick in the top of the 1st as Olivia Strank scored on a passed ball putting Crestview up  1-0.

The 2nd inning started off very well for the Rebels as Taylor Mellington singled and McKenna Schultz walked. Ashton Hughes then followed up with a bunt single loading the bases for the top of the order. Waterloo then looked to get out of the inning, inducing a 1-2-3 double play and turning what looked to be a big Rebel inning into one that they could get out of with no damage. Olivia Strank had other plans however as she hit a two out 2 RBI single into shallow right field putting the Rebels up 3-0.

The Rebels added insurance runs in the 3rd, 6th and 7th innings to make their lead even more commanding. Baylis Bettura helped out with the late runs gathering 2 RBI.

Kaedyn Sutton got the win in the circle for the Rebels. She went 7 innings and only gave up 2 hits. She struck out 9. With the win Sutton breaks the program record for wins in a season with 16,

Crestview advances to play South Range in the South Range District Championship on Thursday night at 5:00 at the South Range Softball Complex.

 

WEEK 2 BIG DOGS OF THE VALLEY ANNOUNCED

With OVER 50,000 Votes cast during the second week of Spring’s Baird Brothers Big Dogs of the Valley, two very deserving student-athletes brought home the title!

 

Congratulations to both winners!  You’ll be entered automatically into our Player of the Year awards at the end of the season.

Liv threw a no-hitter against East Liverpool while striking out 9 and walking none.  She also contributed three hits and a stolen base offensively.

 

LANE RHODES – SALEM

STRANK NO HITS POTTERS AS LADY REBELS SWEEP SERIES

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- In game 1 Olivia Strank was in the circle for her second start of the season. Strank picked up her second win by throwing a no-hitter striking out 9, giving up just two walks on hit batters. Hitting for the Rebels Strank got it done offensively as well adding 3 hits, Baylie Bettura added 3 hits of her own and 4 RBI’s and Shianna Mathes had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s also.

In Game Two, Haley Eskra led off the game with a frozen rope over the right fielders head for an in-the-park home run. Crestview scored 8 runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the first Cooper laid down a bunt for the first hit of the day, then later scoring the first Potter run.

Leading the Rebels hitting was Eskra with a home run and a single, 3 walks and 3 RBI’s. Olivia Strank had 2 singles and 3 RBI’s, Kaedyn Sutton was walked all 4 plate appearances. For East Liverpool Cooper & Stovall each hat a hit. Eskra picked up her first career win pitching, giving up 2 hits and striking out 6, and no walks.

Crestview improves to 10-2 on the season and will host Campbell on Monday.
