CRESTVIEW FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH PAUL CUSICK

COLUMBIANA, OH- For nearly a quarter century, Paul Cusick has been the chief of his tribe on the sidelines.  In Crestview, it’s well understood the history, the commitment, and the reward for the dedication to the program year in and year out.

It’s more than X’s and O’s, it’s about the family, and how to conduct yourself when you’re representing someone or something.

Entering his 24th year, Coach “Q” is still making tweaks and adjustments to not only make better football players- but better young men.  This year will be no different with 16 returning lettermen from 2021, Cusick and his staff will be tasked with finding a path to the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

For the sixth straight year, Coach Cusick allowed YSN to chat it up with him prior to gameday for a series we call: Crestview Coach’s Corner with Paul Cusick.

COLUMBIANA, OH – Coming off a very hard fought road test against United, head coach Paul Cusick and the Crestview Rebels are looking to “right the ship” as MVAC play begins this week. The Rebels battled up until the final whistle but came up a little short 28-21. Up next for Crestview will be a home contest with MVAC foe, the Campbell Memorial Red Devils, on Friday night.

YSN’s own, DJ Yokley, was able to sit down with Coach Cusick this week to discuss the week three match up with United, what he and his staff took away from that game, and what the Rebs need to do on Friday night to come away with a victory and start 1-0 in the MVAC.

The Rebels battled hard but came up a little short 38-13. Up next for Crestview will be a road contest with former ITCL foe, the Southern Indians, on Friday night.

COLUMBIANA, OH- Coming off an impressive victory last week, 23-15, over the Garrettsville Garfield G-Men, head coach Paul Cusick and the  Crestview Rebels are looking to keep their playoff run alive, as they will travel to South Range on Saturday night to take on the Raiders.

COLUMBIANA, OH – Week three saw Coach Paul Cusick and the Crestview Rebels play host to LaBrae and just like the week prior, the Rebs came out firing on all cylinders as they cruised to a 42-7 victory. Coach Q and the Rebels will be hitting the road in week four however, as they will travel down to East Liverpool to take on the Potters this Friday night.

YSN’s own, Ron Potesta, had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Cusick this week on Running Point to discuss their big week three victory over the LaBrae Vikings, what the Rebels need to do in week four to keep their winning streak alive, and what he and his staff are preparing for us as the playoffs begin to inch closer and closer to us!

Coach Q and the Rebs will be back at it on Friday night as they welcome the Campbell Memorial Red Devils to town in what will be the first home game on the new field at Crestview Stadium!

YSN’s own, D.J. Yokley, was able to sit down with Coach Cusick this week to talk about their week one matchup against Champion, what the Rebels need to do moving forward, what the opening of the new field at Crestview means to the community, and the team, and much more!

Coach Paul Cusick and the Crestview Rebels hit the road in week nine, as they traveled up to Champion to take on the 7-1, Golden Flashes. The Rebels came out on fire and Champion did not have an answer as they were shutout 35-0 by the Rebels. Week ten will not only be the final game of the 2019 regular season, but it will also be the final home game for Crestview, as the LaBrae Vikings will come to town on Friday night.

YSN’s own, D.J. Yokley, had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Q to discuss the last week’s big win over Champion but also talk about what their current three-game winning streak has meant to his team.

Week eight saw Coach Paul Cusick and the Crestview Rebels host the Liberty Leopards. The Rebels battled all four quarters which ultimately paid off as they came out with a 26-6 victory. Week nine will be another tough match up for Crestview as they will hit the road and travel up to Champion to take on the Golden Flashes on Friday night.

YSN’s fearless leader, D.J. Yokley, caught up with Coach Q to discuss the last week’s win over Liberty but also what his Rebs need to do to keep their playoff hopes alive in week nine.

Week seven matched Coach Paul Cusick and the Crestview Rebels up with the Campbell Memorial Red Devils. Coach Q’s team fought hard and competed the entire game and came home with a 40-13 victory. Up next for the Rebs will be a home test as they will welcome the Leopards from Liberty to town in week eight.
