LIBERATI LEADS AS LADY BLUE DEVILS HURDLE SOUTHERN

LISBON, OH- It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it as the Lisbon Lady Blue Devils bounced Southern in 4 sets (25-11, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22) on Tuesday.

Maddie Liberati paced the Blue Devils with 11 points, 22 kills, and 15 digs.  Callie Steed had 19 kills, and 20 digs while Justyce Vrable tallied 16 points on the night.

Lisbon is 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the EOAC.

Lisbon is at Wellsville on Thursday, and we will have the game on YSN.

CLIPPERS BLOCK LOWELLVILLE

LOWELLVILLE, OH- The Lady Clippers were back to form in their win over out of conference foe, Lowellville on Monday night.  Columbiana delivered a 3-1 winning performance against the Lady Rockets to move to 6-3 overall on the campaign.

Tori Long led the way with 8 kills, 11 digs, and a pair of aces while Madison Moser added seven kills and five points.  Grace Witmer had the most points on the evening with 15, but also chipped in 2 aces, 14 assists, and 18 digs.  Libero Maci Linhart was awarded the golden shovel with 22 digs, 4 points, and an ace while Marissa Makosky had 7 points, 4 aces, 3 kills and 10 helpers.

No rest for the Lady Clips as they return to action tonight against United at the Eagles Nest.

ONE LAST TIME FOR PRIMETIME

Anna Primavera has earned the YSN tag Primetime for her ability to come up with big kills her team needs. Going into her senior season she is still the go to attacker for the Raiders offense. The new record holder for aces in a match looks to pen her name into the programs prestigious history. 

In this season the Raiders have added some serious weapons to take pressure off Anna and it’s been a welcome adjustment for the senior outside hitter. Our own Anthony Hartwig got to chat with Anna about how it feels to be trusted in clutch situations, how she’s handling being a senior leader, and much more. SOUTH RANGE VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP2 WITH KATHY KOMARA)

The Raiders have had a tough 4 game stretch since the last time we caught up with coach Komara. With losses to Lakeview, Girard, and Boardman, before ending the week with a win against Hubbard. 

We sit down with coach Komara and talk about what she saw from her team’s struggles, and how they bounced back. BAIRD BROTHERS WEEK 1 BIG DOGS OF THE VALLEY WINNERS REVEALED

The votes are in, and the Week 1 winners have been crowned in our 2019 Fall Big Dogs of the Valley contest, presented by Baird Brothers.  Congratulations to this week’s winners, and as a bonus, they now qualify for Big Dog of the Year that will be announced in November.

BACON DIGS OUT TIGERS, COLUMBIANA GROUNDED BY SPRINGFIELD

COLUMBIANA, OH- A tough week continued for the Columbiana Volleyball team this week as they took on their second Tiger team of the week, this time in the form of Springfield.  Coming off a home-loss to Wellsville a night prior, Springfield was able to bump past the Lady Clips in four sets (19-25, 25-16, 10-25, 14-25.)

Springfield (7-1) was paced by Lyndsey Smith and her 19 kills as well as Carly Stitzel who rounded out 8 kills, 8 assists, 15 digs, and 18 points on the night.  Lauren Ranelli had 25 assists, and Carlee Bacon sizzled on defense with 29 digs.

For Columbiana (5-3) Grace Witmer led the way with 4 kills, 11 assists, 7 points and a pair of aces.  Madison Moser had 5 kills, 3 blocks, 5 points and an ace on the night, while Maci Linhart had 25 digs and 4 points, Tori Long also contributed with 4 kills and 8 digs.

Columbiana will play Lowellville on Monday, September 9th on the road.

TIGER MOUNTAIN, WELLSVILLE FLEXES AGAINST CLIPPERS TO STAY ATOP CONFERENCE

COLUMBIANA, OH- It had a big-match feel in Columbiana on Tuesday night, but Wellsville kept the offensive attack rolling through three straight sets (25-8, 25-26, 25-20) to stay on top of the EOAC standings.

Emma Smith had the hot hand from the front row tallying 15 kills.  Freshmen phenoms Alana Amato had nine kills and a pair of aces while Aubri Ramsey had 5 kills.  Greta Cartwright set the tone with 16 assists while the McNicol girls held the backcourt down, Jenna had 21 digs and Emily had 14 assists.

The Clippers were led by Maci Linhart’s 24 digs, while offensively Julia Rapp had 6 kills and two blocks.  Madison Moser had 3 kills, 5 points and a pair of aces while Tori Long had 4 kills and 10 digs.

The Clippers fall to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the EOAC while the Tigers become 6-1, and are undefeated in the EOAC.

LADY DOGS SWEEP LEETONIA

LEETONIA, OH- East Palestine knew they needed to win to keep pace in the EOAC coming into the Leetonia match.  The Lady Bulldogs chomped down with a victory in clean fashion (25-9, 25-18, 25-14) on Tuesday.

Senior, Jami Jones led the way for EP with 23 points, four aces, and 5 digs.  Emily Berger kept the train rolling offensively as well with 9 kills, 2 digs, and a pair of blocks while Malynn Bistarkey had six kills from the front row.

Alyssa Jones tracked Leetonia with 11 points, while Sam Schneider had 8 blocks on the night.

East Palestine is now 5-3 overall, and 3-1 in the EOAC, trailing Wellsville who sits atop the standings.

Both teams return to EOAC action this week as East Palestine will host Southern on Thursday while Leetonia takes on Lisbon.

RED WANTING BLUE, BEAVER LOCAL CAPTURES WIN OVER LIVERPOOL

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- Beaver Local is on a mission.  Since the tough test two weeks ago against Wellsville, Beaver Local has been focused and dialed in.  Tuesday night was no different against their cross-town rival, East Liverpool as the Beavers rolled over the Lady Potters in 4 sets (25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 25-14.)

For Beaver Local, Brooke Talbot led the way with 19 digs, 13 assists, and 10 kills.  Karlee Furman had 16 assists and 10 digs, while Cierrah Thurik had 16 digs and 10 points.  Grace Hill was an offensive assassin with nine kills.

Emma Ludwig had a strong showing for the Lady Potters with 13 kills, three aces, and three blocks up front.  Sharnae Wilson also added 11 kills while Gabby George had 13 helpers.

These two teams will do battle again next Thursday in Beaver Local.
