MAKOSKY ASSISTS LADY CLIPPERS IN OUTLASTING LISBON

LISBON, OH- It was a big night for Clipper setter, Marissa Makosky as she paced her teammates with 22 assists, 5 points, and 3 kills.  Columbiana (5-1, 3-1 EOAC) also had help from Maci Linhart (25 digs, 8 points, 4 aces, 2 kills,) Madison Moser (7 kills, 12 points) and Tori Long (13 kills, 11 points, 7 aces, 6 digs) to defeat Lisbon 3-1 on Thursday.

Julia Rapp also added 7 kills from the front row for Columbiana.

Lisbon was led by McKenna Dailey’s 19 points and 21 digs.  Callie Steed had 10 kills, and Maddie Liberati had 10 points and 26 digs for the Lady Devils.

Columbiana will host Wellsville in a big EOAC matchup on Tuesday night LIVE on YSN.

 

 

 

MELLILO’S FINAL RIDE

Poland Volleyball’s senior captain Lauren Mellilo is taking her final season in stride. The player who has devoted her four years to the sport is now ready to help grow the program. She’s also doing all this while sporting a very impressive academic record.

SETTING THE FUTURE: EMILY IRONS

Emily Irons has strolled into her senior season of volleyball ready to not only succeed this season, but help the program keep on enjoying success. For the first time Emily gets to run the Raider offense full time in a 5-1 rotation.

SOUTH RANGE VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1 WITH KATHERINE KOMARA)

Volleyball season has come back around at South Range and head coach Kathy Komara is starting her third season at the helm.  

This year’s team has a mixture of veteran leadership and young talent. They’re looking to improve off of last year’s season and make a run in the playoffs.

LADY REBS REMAIN UNBEATEN, VIKINGS VANISH

LEAVITTSBURG, OH – The Crestview Lady Rebels kept rolling on Tuesday as they blew past LaBrae three games to none (25-19, 25-13, 25-14) to kick off AAC play.

Tess Neville led the way with 16 kills and six digs. Brenna Auer added seven kills and 12 digs, while Cassie Cope led defensively with 17 digs while chipping in 11 points. Lucy Montgomery added an incredible 38 assists and Amelia Montgomery contributed 10 points.

The Rebels are now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the AAC.

MCNICOL CAN DIG IT, LADY TIGERS HANDLE HEARTLAND

COLUMBIANA, OH- The Wellsville Lady Tigers appear to be hungry this season, staying on track and unbeaten they swept past Heartland Christian on Tuesday 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-23.)

Emma Smith had 12 kills for Wellsville, but Jenna McNicol took home the golden shovel on Tuesday with 30 digs and four aces to go along with her outstanding defensive night.  Greta Cartwright added 18 helpers in the victory.

For Heartland, Emma Hall had 13 kills at the front of the net, while adding 6 points and 19 digs.  Lydia Wilson had 35 assists on the night while adding 8 points and 10 digs.

 

SALEM OPENS UP CONFERENCE ACTION WITH WIN OVER MINERVA

MINERVA, OH-  Salem opened up in EBC action on the road against the Minerva Lions and beat them 3-0. For the Quakers, Kaylee Freeman had 4 aces, 9 assists, and two kills, Rylie Troy added 7 kills, 4 aces, Elly Exline added 7 kills and 13 digs while Jenna McClish had 32 digs. The Quakers will continue EBC play with Alliance at home on Thursday.

In JV play, Salem won 2-0. For the Quakers, Emma Hochadel had 13 assists, And Autumn Little and Hannah Bowers had 3 kills apiece. Both teams are now 4-0.

A LONG NIGHT FOR SOUTHERN, LADY CLIPPERS SWEEP BY INDIANS

COLUMBIANA, OH- The Lady Clippers busted out the brooms against Southern 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-14) in EOAC action Tuesday.

For the Lady Clips, Tori Long had 13 points, eight kills, and 10 digs, while Madison Moser set the tone with 12 kills.  Libero-Maci Linhart had 20 digs. Marissa Makosky finished with 19 assists. Grace Witmer had 18 assists while scoring 14. Maddie Witherow held down the front of the net with 10 kills.

For Southern, Maddie Paxson contributed four aces and five digs, while Ryleigh Ketchum added eight assists.

The Clippers improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the EOAC.  The Clippers will take the court next at Lisbon on Thursday night.

LADY BLUE DEVILS BURN PALESTINE IN 5

LISBON, OH- The ticket was well worth the price of admission on Tuesday as the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs and the Lisbon Lady Blue Devils did battle.  Lisbon dropped the first two sets before exploding back to take the final three in dramatic fashion and win 3-2 (25-27, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-12.)

For Lisbon, Maddie Liberati led the way with 22 kills, 16 points, and 10 digs while McKenna Dailey had the golden shovel with 21 digs and 14 kills.  Jaidynn Entrikin contributed 34 assists.

For the Bulldogs, Morgan Cheurco led the way with her ongoing double-digit assist streak, as she contributed 22 helpers and 11 points.  Senior Jami Jones had 10 points and 7 digs while Emily Berger had 18 digs and 10 kills.  Olivia Figley was a net warrior for the Lady Dogs with 10 kills and 7 rejections.

East Palestine will take on Heartland Christian Thursday while Lisbon will host EOAC rival, Columbiana.
