URSULINE BATS GET THEM THROUGH HIGH SCORING AFFAIR

STRUTHERS OH- Ursuline got out to an eight-run lead in the third inning and held on for a 12-10 victory over Champion on Thursday. Champion  scored eight runs in the failed comeback on a single by Hunter Haines in the fifth, a single by Micah Nolan in the fifth, a double by Nate Holt in the sixth, a single by Kale Klingeman in the sixth, a double by Carson Fife in the sixth, and a single by Jack O’Shaughnessy in the sixth.

Bats blistered as the Irish collected 13 hits and Champion tallied seven in the high-scoring game.

Ursuline fired up the offense in the first inning. Johnny Cambert singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

The Irish put up four runs in the third inning. Their big bats were led by Jack Ericson, Cambert, Joe Carosella, and Brady Shannon, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Champion scored five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Holt, Klingeman, Fife, and O’Shaughnessy, all driving in runs in the frame.

Shannon pitched the Irish to victory. The pitcher allowed one hit and two runs over three innings, striking out six. Jaxson Gruber, Ericson, and Matt Ray all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Ericson recorded the last four outs to earn the save.

Haines took the loss for Champion. The bulldog went four innings, allowing ten runs on ten hits and striking out five.

Ursuline racked up 13 hits in the game. Shannon, Cambert, Ericson, and Dylan Casey all had multiple hits. Shannon led with four hits in five at bats.
