COWHER HAS A NIGHT; STRIKES OUT 13, AND WALKS OFF RIVERSIDE

BESSEMER, PA- Mohawk defeated Riverside 3-2 on Wednesday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at two with Mohawk Area Warriors Varsity batting in the bottom of the eighth when GiGi Cowher singled on a 2-0 count, scoring the game-winner from second base.

The pitching was strong on both sides as well. Cowher struck out 13, while Sam Rosenberger sat down ten.

Riverside got things started in the first inning. Rosenberger singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.  Riverside evened things up at two in the top of the seventh inning. Rosenberger grounded out into a double play but scored a run in the process.

Cowher toed the rubber for Mohawk, the fireballer went eight innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out 13.

Rosenberger led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Riverside. The hurler went seven and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out ten.

Aricka Young led the Lady Warriors with three hits in four at-bats.

Riverside saw the ball well today, racking up five hits in the game. Danny Rosenberger and Sam Rosenberger all collected multiple hits for Riverside. Riverside tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Rosenberger led the way with three.
