WINDHAM HEARTS BROKEN IN FINAL MINUTE

WINDHAM, OH- Old-school football was on display on Friday night, as Pymatuning Valley invaded the Windham Bombers on Senior Night.  The Lakers would showcase a wildcat-style offense to which not even the announcers knew where the ball was going, and who would receive the snap, en route to a 36-28 victory over Windham.

PVHS would control the scoreboard in every stanza except the second, but it was what happened in the final moments of the Fourth Quarter that would make the difference on the scoreboard.  The Lakers would set up a big pass downfield by keeping the ball between the tackles for the majority of the game.  Then, when it looked like they were waiting for a shot in overtime, threw the ball downfield complete and set up the game-winning plunge into the endzone with 11.1 seconds to put the Bombers behind the 8-ball, and eventually would suffer their second loss of the year.

Windham won the penalty contest with only 3 penalties called against the Lakers’ 8, but The Bombers also controlled the sticks- measuring out 20 first downs on the evening.

Wyatt Hanshaw was 4 out of 10 through the air for 93 yards and a score, while the trio of James Hood, Chase Eye, and Miki Jones controlled the ground game with 228 yards combined.  Hood led the way with 89 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, while Jones had 67 yards and a pair of scores.

Lucas Churchill hauled in a score through the air on his only reception of 25 yards.

The Bombers (4-2) will look to get back on track on the road next Friday against Fairport Harbor.
