TOP BILLED MATCH UP GOES TO FITCH

WARREN OH- The Austintown-Fitch Falcons softball team emerged victorious in a battle of the areas
best on Thursday night, defeating The Champion Golden Flashes by a score of 1-0 in a pitchers-duel instant classic!

The first three innings went by in a blink of an eye with Falcons pitcher and Georgia-Tech commit Sydnie Watts and Flashes pitcher and Penn. State commit Gabby Gradishar showcased a masterclass of pitching, shutting down the lineups the first time through.
First score came in the top of the fourth inning when Sydnie Watts blasted a solo shot to straight away dead center, providing Fitch with the 1-0 advantage. Simultaneously getting a high school home run of Gradishar, evening their home run total off one another at one a piece.

A solo home run would be the only score in the ballgame, as both Gradishar and Watts went into the seventh inning pitching in their rhythm.
Forcing soft contact and a few key popups, Gradishar struck out five in her seven innings of work, giving up just the one run on six hits, taking the touch luck loss. Watts completed the full seven innings as well, striking out 14, allowing just two hits in shutout softball!

Fitch (12-1) will now look ahead to All American Conference (AAC) play when they host Howland (10-4). After suffering their first loss of the season, Champion (11-1) will look to bounce back against The Whitmer Panthers (9-2) on Saturday, April 27th as a part of the Prebis Softball Tournament.
