BIG FIFTH INNING LIFTS HOWLAND PAST SPARTANS

Boardman lost the lead late in a 9-4 defeat to Howland on Monday. The game was tied at two with Howland batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run. The Tigers would go on to score seven in the frame.

Boardman got things started in the first inning. Cassidy Bryan singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Brooke Tatar led things off on the rubber for Howland. The fireballer surrendered four runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out seven.

Tori Strines toed the rubber for the Spartans. Strines allowed eight hits and seven runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Madison Lester threw one and one-third innings in relief.

Boardman launched one home run on the day. Jenna Olexa went for the long ball in the seventh inning.

Boardman collected eight hits on the day. Dana Haus, Lester, and Olexa all managed multiple hits. Olexa, Lester, and Haus each collected two hits to lead.

Howland had 12 hits in the game. Tatar, Alyssa Massucci, and Jenna Sindledecker each racked up multiple hits for Howland.
