BLUE DEVILS SHOCK LOWELLVILLE

LOWELLVILLE, Ohio –

One of the many great MVAC matchups across the network, Western Reserve (7-12) travelled into Lowellville (9-8) and avenged a prior loss in the season.

It was a back-and-forth affair in the village with each team holding their fair share of leads. At the end of the first, it was the Rockets who led 16-12, then at the half it was Western Reserve who now held the lead, 25-23.

Trailing by 6 heading into the final quarter, the Rockets came out swinging and were able to bring the Western Reserve lead down to just 1. Sensing a Rocket run, the Blue Devils with a healthy dosage of seniors Ryan Gordon and Noah Klasic.

Gordon and Klasic combined for 16 of the Western Reserve 18 4th quarter points, while going a perfect 5 of 5 from the free throw stripe.Lowellville’s sophomore Anthony Lucente tried to keep his team in it producing a solid 8 points in the 4th, but the Blue Devils proved to be too much in the end, winning by a final of 59-49.

Western ReserveBringing their 4 game losing streak to an end, the Blue Devils must now travel to New Middletown and play a game that was originally schedule for February 2nd, as they will take on the Springfield Tigers (13-3).

LowellvilleFollowing their second straight loss, the Lowellville Rockets will travel to Robert McClary Gymnasium Tuesday the 16th to take on the McDonald Blue Devils (18-1). These two teams faced off less than a week ago in a game that saw the Devils come out victorious, 60-55.
