BOARDMAN CLIMBS OVER HILLTOPPERS

CHARDON, OH-The Boardman Spartans cruised past Chardon with a commanding 11-1 win on Monday at Chardon High School.

The Spartans kicked things off in the first inning when Tyler Kirlik cracked a double to bring a runner home. Chardon managed to even the score at one-all in the third, capitalizing on a rare error by the Spartans.

The game really swung in Boardman’s favor in the fourth inning with a barrage of seven hits leading to five runs. Ben Herrmann delivered the key hit, a double that cleared the bases for two crucial runs, pushing the lead to 6-1.

Collin Resetar was stellar on the mound, clinching the win for Boardman by holding Chardon to just two hits and one unearned run across five innings, notching five strikeouts. Austin Leszynski shouldered the loss after yielding six runs over four innings. Ryan Neifer wrapped things up nicely for Boardman, throwing two hitless innings in relief.

At the plate, Boardman was unstoppable, amassing 20 hits. Herrmann, Kirlik, and Grayson Eicher led the charge, each bagging three hits. Key contributions came from Charlie Young, Kirlik, Herrmann, and Zach Ganser, each knocking in two runs. Ryan Conti, Landon Whippo, and Marty Stachowicz also had a multi-hit day, helping to keep the pressure on Chardon.

Next, the Spartans head to Marlington to face the Diamond Dukes on Tuesday, riding high from their big win.
