BOARDMAN FIGHTS PAST FITCH

BOARDMAN, OH- The Boardman Lady Spartans Track and Field team defeated the Fitch Lady Falcons 74-60 on Tuesday, April 12th.

The Lady Spartans opened the scoring in the 100 hurdles with a victory from Sarah Blasco and a third place finish from Khadija Hadidan.  Destinee Hayes returned to action winning the 100 in one of her career best times of 12.6.
The 4×200 relay of Destinee Hayes, Sarah Blasco, Abbi Mihok and Kenzie Riccitelli turned in a win with a season best time of 1:50.4.
In the 1600, Lauren Bero was the 1nd place finisher, while teammate Morgan Russo finished in 3rd place.  In the 400, Kenzie Riccitelli scored a 1st place finish, followed up by Abbi Mihok in 2nd, both ladies finishing in season best times.
The next event was the 300 hurdles where Sarah Blasco scored a 3rd place finish.  In the 800, Morgan Auck secured a 2nd place finish.  Destinee Hayes won the 200 in a career best time with her teammate Kenzie Riccitelli finishing 3rd.  Lauren Bero followed up by winning the 3200.  The final scoring event on the track was the 1st place finish from Kenzie Riccitelli, Morgan Auck, Abbi Mihok and Gabby Vennetti in the 4×400.
The Lady Spartans had a terrific night in the field events.  In the discus, Maddy Smith won with a season best of 106-7 and her teammate Ang Nespeca finished 3rd .  In the pole vault, Hayley Ho was 2nd and Alyssa Gilbert was 3rd.  In the high jump, Sophia Martin was 1st, Reagan Smith was 2nd, Hayley Ho was 3rd.  Three Lady Spartans scored in the shot put,  Savanna Watkins finished 2nd and Maddy Smith was 3rd.  To round out the scoring, Sophia Martin was 3rd in the long jump.
The Lady Spartans had a phenomenal meet with 24 combined personal best marks across the board.
Finally, it was a special night where Sam Duble was able to return to action after suffering a torn ACL in the fall.  Always a wonderful thing to see great kids rebound and get back to athletics.
The Lady Spartans will travel to GlenOak on Saturday, April 16th for the Eagle Elite Invitational.
