BOARDMAN PULLS OF THE UPSET IN EXTRAS

MASSILLON OH- Boardman didn’t even get a half of an inning in on Monday before rain delayed the game. They quickly had momentum though as they scored a run before the sky opened up. That meant they came in to Tuesday night already having a 1-0 lead and momentum. They needed every bit as they outlasted New Philadelphia 5-3 in 8 innings.

Maddie Lester was 1-3 on the day with a team high 2 RBI. She hit her 6th home run of the season. Dana Haus was the only Spartan with multiple hits going 2-4 with a walk and 2 runs scored.  Jenna Olexa went 1-2, walked twice, and gathered a RBI.  Maddie Wymer mirrored those numbers going 1-2 with a pair of walks.

Tori Strines pitched a gem against a strong Quakers lineup.  She went 8 innings giving up just 1 earned run on 6 hits. She struck out 6 and walked 2.

Boardman advances to the Division 1 Massillon district championship on Wednesday as they’ll play Walsh Jesuit. First pitch from Massillon is slated for 5:00.
