BULLDOGS GET THE EDGE OVER LABRAE

POLAND OH- In a thrilling non-conference matchup, the LaBrae Vikings clashed with the Poland Bulldogs in a tight softball showdown that turned into a pitching duel. Ultimately, it was the Bulldogs who emerged victorious, securing a narrow 2-1 win.

The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Mary Brant kickstarted the offense with a double, then crossed the plate on another double by Leanne Williams, who tallied two hits in the game. The Vikings responded in the top of the fourth inning when Khloe Sanderson singled in a run, tying the game at one apiece.

However, Poland quickly reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the fourth inning, thanks to a solo home run by Lily McDonald, who also doubled for 2 hits on the night. The Bulldogs held onto their slim 2-1 lead for the remainder of the game.

Junior pitcher Olivia Horn was outstanding in the circle for Poland, earning the win by scattering 4 hits over seven innings and striking out seven batters. Horn’s stellar performance kept the Vikings’ offense in check and proved crucial in securing the victory.

On the other side, Riley Rowe took the loss for LaBrae, surrendering 7 hits with 2 strikeouts in a hard-fought effort.

With the win, Poland now turns its focus to the Sectional Semi-Final game at home against Villa Angela-St. Joseph’s on Tuesday at 5pm. Riding the momentum of this victory, the Bulldogs will look to start their postseason journey with another strong performance on their home turf.
